No Disclaimer book tag

This tag I saw in Merphy's channel on YouTube you can find the video here. The original is not mentioned, I am not sure who created it either.  And she did mention we as viewers can consider ourselves tagged, so I'm taking up that. It seems like a fun one to try out. I barely do Tag lately I miss them. If anyone has a suggestion for Tags, feel free to suggest them in the comments.

Disclaimers have been around probably since before the start of media being used in reviews for books, movies, and series as we see it nowadays. I mean come on, there are very few objective reviews of anything be it art, movies, even academic research, we are humans being with emotions and different life experiences, we always see things differently. So yes every review is based on personal opinion especially because most of the people doing them do this as hobbies and don't do this for a living. Even a few of the people who have a full time reviewers have a specific taste and opinion even if they try to back up their opinion with facts relevant to the piece they are taking a look at.

Getting to the Tag:

1. Which trope(s) in books annoys you the most?
It really depends on the book there are as usual a few that I enjoy more in some settings. I love the idea of people falling in love. They meet and they notice they connect and are great together. What I hate is the way most of the books are written with that idea.
#1They met and are in love! Yes, but there is nothing to back that up. They do not get to know each other and most of the time at the surface level they are not even good together.
So in short insta-love combined with the ass**** love interest. If we are going to get two people falling for each other the least I expect is to be given a reason for the initial attraction.

Which writer(s) do you feel is overrated/overhyped?
I read very little compared to many people who grew up reading. And when I first started I wanted to get into very popular authors, one of the not-so-positive surprises was when I picked up the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. The first few series I picked up by him I was very underwhelmed. Percy Jackson the first series and then the Heroes of Olympus I really could not see why people love him. I am aware I am not the target audience but still, I had heard so many people who loved them growing up. I did push through and enjoy some of his books more but still, I think this is one of those times you had to read them at specific points in life, or the more likely... It's just not for me. I love the theme but the execution is not always on par.

What are your least favorite books you’ve read since joining BookTube?
I will count this since I joined as a viewer to Booktube. I read the Precious stone trilogy, the first book was ok but then the series went downhill for me. I did not really like the plot and the romance. The premise sounded so good but I strongly disliked the story itself.

What is a terrible ending that ruined an otherwise quality book?
Endings in many of Stephen King's books are some of the worst. I get that sometimes things aren't as easy to wrap up but yeah. The other one is HP I really disliked the majority of the deathly hallows that last few chapters were not what I wanted the final to be.

Which fictional character(s) do you wish was not killed off?
The worst deaths, well that is hard to come up right now. I would say Finnick in the Hunger games by Suzanne Collins and Trish in the Divergent series. Now that I come to think about it, no the one I was angry the most was for Newt from Maze runner.

I just realized that they are all YA dystopia books. Interesting.

What are some of your bookish pet peeves?
I do not need my books in pristine condition, but one of my main issues is when people criticize you for the way you have them or what you choose to do with them. I dog-ear my books, use random stuff to keep it open, and yes I have had accidents with them: mainly my nieces have scratched or scribbled on some of them. I do not mind. What I do mind is people complaining about it. I will respect other people's books and I never borrow other people's books but if I did I would be sure to return them in the same condition it was provided to me. But I want to be able to have the books on my shelf in any shape or form and not have people talk as if I am not good enough of a reader for it.

What are some books you feel should have more recognition?
I feel I have not seen many people talk about it, but not sure if it's only a me thing but I recently read the first book in the Inheritance trilogy by NK. Jemisin. It was great, I feel it should be more talked about.

What are your thoughts on censorship and banning books?
I don't think e should ban books. Everyone should be free to decide if picking up a book or not. Part of growing as people is to learn the difference between good and bad, ethically correct and moral values, many of these teachings can be learned from books. A book should not be considered bad or good, it's ok to read about other opinions or POV different from your own. Seeing a different perspective or a narrative describing things you are against should not be considered bad, everyone should have the opportunity to make their own minds.

Who do you tag?
Of course, anyone who is interested please consider yourself tagged.
Let me know how do you feel about it in the comments.
Until next time, stay safe and healthy!
