January 2021 Wrap up

Image
I am actually a bit unsure if making this post or not. The last few days I have been seeing a few interesting conversations about the impact and unrealistic expectations people might be getting from reading or watching the content people share about reading. Is it possible that people who see posts like this where the author is reading what most people consider a lot might be building unfair expectations or making themselves feel bad for not reading as much? I hope that is not the case really. I wanted to make a small pause for this. But I have not been able to make a coherent idea to share. So I will not be making a post for it, but the general idea is: I am happy to share what I read and I feel no small amount of pride in completing books and series. That does not mean other people should be reading as much or more than me. This is not a competition, for most people, I included, reading is a hobby. I do it for fun and I hope everyone who does enjoy reading does not place the mo...

2020 Reading statistics

Image
The end of the year is my favorite time for several reasons: I overview and check the goals and set new ones.   I surpassed my reading challenge for 2020 (Goal 225). Out of the total books read, 25 were reread that makes it 9%. My goal was 10% in the year so I'm going to round up and give that goal also a check of completed.  My favorite graph to see is the one describing the number of books read per month. The month I read the least was December as I had predicted. This was mostly because I am usually busy with other plans and because by the time December rolled around I was a bit burned out. The last few weeks I had a bit of a struggle to get into a series and instead of DNFing it and picking something up I tried to push through. This was a mistake. In the end, the only thing I accomplished was to get into a reading slump and I read almost nothing afterward.  The month I read the most was August, I am not even sure why. I have almost no record of those books...

December 2020 Wrap up

End of another month and with this we see 2020 come to a closure. Such an interesting year indeed, we can't complain about it. As usual, I will include the statistics I love to see so much, not sure if anyone else enjoys them. For most of the books I read in the month, there is a review a few are missing as it's usual in my blog but I will be trying to catch up and publish them throughout the first two weeks of January.  Let's dive right in: I assume this happened to everyone but I didn't read as much as I expected. December ended up being the month I read the least. I had big plans for this month but in the end, I was distracted, other things came up or something.  I have been using Scribd a lot lately. I try to find the books for my personal challenges there if not then I buy them. This book buying habit needs to be put in reign somehow and it's a good start.  I had a very decent time reading this month. I haven't found 5 stars bok lately but I still enjoyed...

November Wrap up

Another month is done. As usual, I did not complete my TBR list, do I ever? I am to blame really if I don't start making smaller TBR lists I am not going to be able to complete them. Moving on let's take a look at what I have read this lovely November. I am doing very good I mean there is no rush anymore I can relax I achieved my goal for this year. As usual, the page count per day was ok, but I still didn't finish my initial TBR. Oh well.  The average rating for this month was 3.2. It was a very decent month, especially because I had nothing lower than a 3 star so I enjoyed everything I read this month! I read a few books published "recently" can't complain about that. But I am missing a few more if I want to really make my reading broader.  Regarding the authors, I also need to pay more attention to. Thanks to the manga the author's from other than USA-UK is close to 50-50. So Overall, it looks pretty good. The majority of the books this month were als...

October 2020 Wrap up

Image
Another month has gone, it's really something to note. 2020 has been a ride. But it so close to the end as well. This month is special because we managed to complete the 2020 reading challenge set in Good Reads so that was a great boost for me. Seeing the challenge completed when I was feeling down gave me the positive boost I needed to get into a positive mentality. I am still riding that wave. Things are indeed falling into place towards the end of this year. I am happy with where my life is going lately. Nothing has changed really, just the way I see things has improved.  Moving on, I have here stats about my reading this month. As it can be very dull data to see I generally just place everything in an easy way to grasp (for me that means tables) and today's idea is to place information in graphs. We'll see if that works. This makes things look so good. It gives a boost regardless of how many books you complete that 107% makes me embarrassingly joyful. Ok, time to get ...

September Wrap up 2020

Again I completely go off script and just disregard my posting schedule. I apologize for this unexplained absence (again!). I had issues finding time and energy to pick up books, which translated to having very little inspiration to post anything. We're here to try to pull everything together and post more frequently.   I like to see statistics but I have no idea if this is interesting to anyone else. Let me know if you would like to see this in a different format. Should I include charts instead of tables?  (Sidenote: I had a pretty good reading month. I have been thinking of trying to explain how I rate but its such a subjective rating that it is not exactly helpful for anyone but me. On the other hand, it could be helpful for you if you read my reviews. Would that be something you'd be interested in? ) I want to use more the services I am paying and I clearly need to work on that a bit more. Mini goal to try next month, use Scrib and Kindle.     In regards to...
