Challenge 1: Otherworld

Image
Challenge 1: Read the group book Other world. So I went ahead and bought a book even after I said I wasn't going to buy anything. Title: Otherworld Authors: Jason Segel and Kristen Miller Date Published: October 2017 Genre: YA, Science Fiction Book Description:  The company says Otherworld is amazing—like nothing you’ve ever seen before. They say it’s addictive—that you’ll want to stay forever. They promise Otherworld will make all your dreams come true. Simon thought Otherworld was a game. Turns out he knew nothing. Otherworld is the next phase of reality. It’s everything you’ve ever wanted. And it’s about to change humanity forever. Welcome to the Otherworld. No one could have seen it coming. Well what did I think about it? I liked it, I mean for some reason it took a while for me to get intot he story but it was really good if I do say so myself. It wasn't as good as I had imagined, I mean I did have really high expectations for it and it wasn't as grand as ...

Challenge 4: My Heart and other black holes

Image
Challenge 4: Read a bok about mental illness. I was debating about several book but in the end I picked a book about depression and suicide that I really didn't know too much about. I usually do one of two things: 1. Thoroughly research a book I'm about to read. By that I mean I read the book description, look it up in good reads.com,  see the average rating and take a look at the reviews.  2. Buy or start reading a book on digital version without even glancing at the description. This time I read the title My heart and other black holes and then I was like it sounds like it talks about depression or some other emotional issues. Yes it fits my criteria. So I ícked it based on the title.... so yeah I do judge the book by the cover or titles alone many times XD Title: My Heart and other Black Holes Author: Jasmine Warga Date published: May 2016 Genre: YA, Contemporary, Mental Illness Book Description:  Sixteen-year-old physics nerd Aysel is obsessed with plo...

While Rudy is at first skeptical, he soon realizes that the Blacks really have been shockingly mistreated by the huge company, and that he just may have stumbled upon one of the largest insurance frauds anyone's ever seen -- and one of the most lucrative and important cases in the history of civil litigation. The problem is, Rudy's flat broke, has no job, hasn...

Challenge 2: The Retribution of Mara Dyer

Image
Challenge 2: Read a sequel, so I choose the book after the Evolution of Maya Dyer, the third and last book if you don't count the Noah Shaw continuation. Title: The Retribution of Mara Dyer Author: Michelle Hodkin 470 pages/ 40 chapters digital version Genre: YA Paranormal/Fantasy  Date published: November 2014 Book Description:  Mara Dyer wants to believe there's more to the lies she’s been told. There is.   She doesn’t stop to think about where her quest for the truth might lead. She should.  She never had to imagine how far she would go for vengeance. She will now. Loyalties are betrayed, guilt and innocence tangle, and fate and chance collide in this shocking conclusion to Mara Dyer’s story. Retribution has arrived. So yeah I began the challenges all out of order, I guess it doesn't really matter and I have been starting multiple books at onc. It really is no problem for me because I generally do read several books at the time but it does kind o...

Challenge 6: The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

Image
Title: The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Author: Robert Louis Stevenson 96 pages  First Published in 1886 Book description:  It is about a London lawyer named John Gabriel Utterson who investigates strange occurrences between his old friend, Dr Henry Jekyll, and the evil Edward Hyde. So for the sixth challenge we had to pick a book with less than 200 pages, so I had to literally google books under 200 pages and this was one of them. It is a classic read and I have never actually read it before so it helps me get two things done, for starters it meets this challenge's requirements and also it helps me to get another classic this month. With this one it's going to be my third so it gives me a good head strat for this year.  Funny thing, I don't actually know what this book is about and the description it came with was aweful, it gives me nothing. It might be because it is a very old book and most people could already know the storyline therefore the publi...

Image
Title: Nightmares! Author: Jason Segel and Kristen Miller 355 pages Genre: Childrens, Horror, Adventure Book Description:  Sleeping has never been so scary. And now waking up is even worse! Charlie Laird has several problems: 1. His dad married a woman he is sure moonlights as a witch. 2. He had to move into her purple mansion, which is not a place you want to find yourself after dark. 3. He can’t remember the last time sleeping wasn’t a nightmarish prospect. Like even a nap. What Charlie doesn’t know is that his problems are about to get a whole lot more real. Nightmares can ruin a good night’s sleep, but when they start slipping out of your dreams and into the waking world—that’s a line that should never be crossed. And when your worst nightmares start to come true . . . well, that’s something only Charlie can face. And he’s going to need all the help he can get, or it might just be lights-out for Charlie Laird. For good. Challenge 3: Read a book you've never heard of bef...

Image
So I just found out that there is a bibliathon coming up. I hadn't seen this on time before but this year I found out before it was over yey! So I want to participate on it.  So I have been following Emma for a while now and this is how I found out about the challenge. I obviously only will do the reading Challenges. They consist of: 1. Read the group book: Other World by Jason Seagol and Kristen Miller 2. Read a sequel 3. Read a book you've never heard of before. 4. Read a book about Mental Illness. 5. Read a book that you've found in a tv series, movie or another book. 6. Read a book under 200 pages. 7. Read a book published before 2017. So here it is my plan for each of the challenges: 1. I bought Otherworld so no problem. 2. My pick is the Revolution of Mara Dyer the final book of the trilogy Mara Dyer. It is a sequel after all. If I run out of time this can also count for the challenge #7 XD 3. For this I had planned on going to the boo...
