Volume 27: the whisperer war

We are very close to the ending, there is no way to review or talk about this without huge spoilers.

Negan comes back after he completes his self-appointed mission. He calmly walks back to Alexandria and allows himself to be guided to Rick. They have a new issue. Wat to do with Negan, he tried in his own way to help them. He defeated Alpha, but then again because Rick's people were chasing after him the Whisperers discovered that Alexandria knows about him. Rick takes his high and mighty posture that annoys me greatly. Negan is given parole and is on probation really. Dwight is in charge of keeping an eye on Negan as they continue to watch and protect from a possible attack from the whisperers.

Over at Hilltop and the Kingdom, the leaders decide to send over as many fighters as possible. Some worry that this leaves both locations unguarded and exposed. But the people still gather to fight under Rick's command as the current leaders decide.

The fight begins, the whisperers guide a herd of walkers towards Alexandria, hundreds of zombies are going their way. The few hundred fights manage to fight them off and they pull their first win in this fight.

The ending is very dramatic as Rick received the report from the fight Dwight was not aware of what they were fighting against. And in the closing scene, the huge herd is being sent towards them.

Volume 28: A certain doom

The title itself gives you the vibe of the majority of the volume. A huge herd of thousands of walkers is coming their way. The herd is close, so riders try a last desperate plan. They must guide the zombies towards the ocean.

We see a few cherries on top of problems on this one.

Andrea suffers, Rick is breaking, Hilltop is completely lost due to the whisperers. Add to that the Saviors decide to rebel against Rick!

An unlikely aid from Negan saves the day again, so it's kind of hard to continue seeing him as the monster when he seems to be a very logical man now.

On the other hand, a secret Eugene has been keeping was discovered but it was kind of lost with the whole drama going on in the background. What is going to happen next?

Both of them were given a rating of :

We continue to see a very grim life for the survivors so far and they seem to have less and less hope with everything that has happened to them lately. How will it end?

Have you seen the TV show or read it? I am closer to the end, is it a good idea to start the tv show right away or should I give it a bit of time to allow the plot of the graphic novel to fade?
