Black Butler
Author: Yana Toboso
Translator: Tomo Kimura
Genre: Manga
This is the Manga, the Anime Kuroshitsuji was based on.
Original Publication date: February 2007
Description: In the Victorian ages of London The Earl of the Phantomhive house, Ciel Phantomhive, needs to get his revenge on those who had humiliated him and destroyed what he loved. Not being able to do it alone he sells his soul to a demon he names Sebastian Michaelis. Now working as his butler, Sebastian must help the Earl Phantomhive.
Thoughts:
The art is what I come to expect from manga, I enjoy the style though miss the color. I started to see the anime first so seeing it black and white seems a bit of a downer really. But oh well.
The story in itself is a bit more nonsensical than what I remembered, but to be fair it has been years since I last saw anything related to Kuroshitsuji so that's to be expected, I only remembered the overall concept.
The situations at times seem too exaggerated. What aspects:
*In this volume the annoying and super exaggerated part was those scenes where the servants, each a professional in their own field, maid, gardener, cook.... Were so bad at their job. That seems a bit too much.
*The fact that Sebastian can do unimaginable things, I buy. He is not a normal human being, him doing extraordinary actions is to be expected but the incompetence of the rest of the household is the unbelievable part.
I am definitely going to continue reading this series, I could binge read all the volumes in a few weeks but it is an ongoing series so I will take my time with it.
This book was picked mainly because manga fast and I needed to feel like I was making progress and to get out of the slump I feel coming up reading some nostalgic story is a great help.
