Treasure Island

by Robert Louis Stevenson

Genre: Classic
First published in January 1882
Book description: From the moment young Jim Hawkins first encounters the sinister Blind Pew at the Admiral Benbow Inn until the climactic battle for treasure on a tropic isle, the nevel creates scenes and characters that have firetd the imaginations of generations of readers. Written by a superb prose stylist, a master of both action and atmosphere, the story centers upon the conflict between good and evil - but in this case a particularly engaging form of evil. It is the villainy of that most ambiguous rogue Long John Silver that sets the tempo of this tale of treachery, greed, and daring.

Yes believe it or not this is the very forst time I read the book. I have heard so much about it, seen plenty of references and other stories based on it but never had I read the original story. And I use "read" very loosesly here.
I had been in a reading slum especially with Audio books and just gooffing off I found the liverbox recording for treasure Island and decided to listen to it while I waited for my shift to be over. And I was hooked. I wanted to listen to more audiobooks and yet the ones I was picking up could not hold my attention. This one did.

I really enjoyed it, the main character is likable and even if he makes stupid decisions he ends up growing up a lot during his adventure. Even if the bad guys almost always ended up taking the upper hand for most of the book and our lovely little innocent boy ends up making a terrible decision almost in the end. Well making a decision is giving it too much credit, he really had no choice.

I gave this book a 3.5 star rating. I really liked it. I understand why after all this time the stories keep being used and liked by all. It is a book that teens and adult alike can find to fancy.
