Reading Rush TBR 2020
So as I had mentioned before I planned on not participating in any Readathons but then I saw this one and how can I not?
This is the first book in a children's series Anya and the dragon by Sofia Pasternack. Eleven-year-old Anya is the daughter of the only Jewish family in her village. When her family’s livelihood is threatened by a bigoted magistrate, Anya is lured in by a friendly family of fools, who promise her money in exchange for helping them capture the last dragon in Kievan Rus. This seems easy enough until she finds out that the scary old dragon isn’t as old—or as scary—as everyone thought. Now Anya is faced with a choice: save the dragon, or save her family.
This is created by Ariel and Raeleen
Everything you need to know: https://thereadingrush.com/Duration: July 20-26
The challenges:
1/ Read a book with a cover that matches the color of your birthstone. I am Amethyst so something with purplish cover. None of the books in my current TBR has purple, so I must add an extra one.
We have in my Scribd to rad later shelf this story that has a nice purple part in it
2/ Read a book that starts with the word “The”.
The reptile room, Lemoney Snicket. This is the second book in the series and we will get to see what happens to the three siblings after they are taken from the custody of Count Olaf. What new adventures they face.
3/ Read a book that inspired a movie you’ve already seen.
I'm sure there are plenty of books that could count for this one, but I am at a loss XD
So, in the end, I picked a book that I have not read even if the movie has been out for a long Tim: American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis, the movie I also saw it a few years ago, not at all recently but this is 100% case of I watched the movie first.
4/ Read the first book you touch.
So for this one, we made a very fun game, because I already have a lot of books on my TBR this challenge was completed by piling up the TBR books, I tried to confuse myself by spinning for a few moments and reaching for one with my eyes closed.
The winner was:
Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky the first in a Sci-Fi story about humankind leaving Earth, there was a planet set up for terraformation by a group of humans in the past and now the remains of the human race are on their way to reclaim their promised land.
The bad news, is that another intelligent race already is trying to claim the same territory, now the fight begins, who will win the planet humans or the others?
5/ Read a book completely outside of your house.
For this, I am going to do a repeat of a book already picked for another challenge. The reptile room by Lemoney Snicket is a very short book so I think it's convenient. I will be reading in the patio so its going t be outside XD

6/ Read a book in a genre that you’ve always wanted to read more of.
For this again we're repeating one of the choices mentioned before, I am trying to get more into Sci-Fi so that's why I am trying to reach out to popular series in that genre, Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky
7/ Read a book that takes place on a different continent than where you live.
Anya and the dragon by Sofia Pasternack, this takes place in Asia I think.
So as you can see I try to fore a book to fit two of the prompts to save time, I know there is only so much I can read in a single week!
