The Hidden Oracle

Author: Rick Riordan

Series: The trials of Apollo
Original publication date: May 2016
Genre: YA Fantasy
Book description (from Good Reads): After angering his father Zeus, the god Apollo is cast down from Olympus. Weak and disorientated, he lands in New York City as a regular teenage boy. Now, without his godly powers, the four-thousand-year-old deity must learn to survive in the modern world until he can somehow find a way to regain Zeus's favour.
But Apollo has many enemies—gods, monsters and mortals who would love to see the former Olympian permanently destroyed. Apollo needs help, and he can think of only one place to go... an enclave of modern demigods known as Camp Half-Blood.

So let's see
It is a nice quick read with some of the characters we already care about such as Percy, brief but good encounters really XD
Apollo is very self-centered and coincided in the beginning but it is funny the lengths of his shortcomings. For a god he is far from perfect and very uncaring. He does grow a lot during the first few days he spends as human at a surprisingly fast rate and he ends up being more likable by the end.
This is a nice quick read and it does not have the typical slow pace of introduction to a world because it is one we are pretty familiar with. No new places are explored it all happens in very familiar locations and most of the characters are already familiar to us.
The plotline is like past occasions, we have a bad guy, gods that are nowhere to be seen, demigods are facing the dangers.... the fun part is following along as they have to discover the mechanics and find out who their enemy is.
I really enjoyed my time reading it, though as a side note I should mention that it is better if you read the previous series: Percy Jackson and the Olympians, the heroes of Olympus and Magnus Chase and the gods of Asgard.... that last one I am not 100% sure. But this book does make references to people who already participated in their fair share of adventures and well I have not read all of the other books so I was a bit unsure, not like you need to know what happened then to grasp the storyline of this book but you might get spoiled if you start here and then want to go back. I really do not mind that XD I will now start the Heroes of Olympus and see what happens there and maybe get the background of some of the people here.

Gave this a 3.75 stars I really like it but it was nothing mind-blowing.

We used this book to accomplish the Reading challenge for Good Read Choice Awards, we are moving a bit slower than expected but oh well this is a year-long challenge we still have time.
