November 2020 Book Haul
I wanted to be strong again and not buy too many physical books as my stack of unread books is already enormous. But then things like Black Friday come in and I just couldn't stop myself.
There were some books I really was planning on reading in November so I was going to buy a few in digital format, but still, I went ahead and bought some physical ones as well.
So beginning with Kindle:
Saint's Blood by Sebastien de Castell the third book in the Greatcoats series. At least I did read this one. We continue with Falcio and the remaining Greatcoats. They have been betrayed, hunted, and almost killed but they have to keep going. They're very unlucky indeed. You can find a few more of my thoughts in the book review right here.
Next, I bought a few more children books I plan on reading to my niece. As she is not even close to understanding English I have picked Alina the monster hunter (Alina cazadora de monstruos) by Anne Aband. I have no idea what this is about but I am sure I'll get through this one in notime.
The other book for her was The planet with people who have feet in their heads by Raul Andres Rodriguez Garza. this is an illustrated sci-fi book which seems to be mainly humoristic. I hope she enjoys it and doesn't find it to be for little kids as she describes some of them.
Longevidad by Amos Ortiz is a nonfiction book that is meant to help us see the reason why we should be alive. A self-help / inspiring book to read when feeling blue. Not really this is actually a fiction book. A man who has not made the best life choices he is an organ traffic dealer and is on the run, he flees to Brazil. You know how it is, while on the run he discovers what people of the old world spent their life looking for, the fountain of youth. Now, what will he do with it?
Why me? By Elsa Lesser. It is a book trying to describe the why of everything? Why the things that happen to you, happen. This is meant for a self-awareness and personal growth.
Thor by Marvel. A small start of a story about Thor.
Father of the mafia by Reene Rose. This is the story of a man receiving an order. Don G sends him to find his daughter. She is running away from a arrange marriage with a family. It is a steamy romance I'm sure.
Mindful transform your anxiety by Oscar Segurado. This is a self-book that can come in handy when feeling down. One of the very small books we can get through easily and I hope to lift my spirits in my blue days.
Niebla Miguel de Unamuno is a fictional story from 1914. I have not heard anything about it but it looks like a scary story and I wonder what has allowed it to transcend the test of time.
The fox and spyglass by Andre MaguiƱa Ballon. A nice picture book I expect to love.
The amazing adventures of Doctor Dolittle by Hugh Lofting a nice children's adventure book about a doctor who is able to speak to animals. I have seen only the movies not read the book, I wonder how different it might be.
Short stories thrillers by Chris Benjamin a collection of short stories.
The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald. The story of the fabulously wealthy Jay Gatsby and his love for the beautiful Daisy Buchanan, of lavish parties on Long Island at a time when, The New York Times remarked, "gin was the national drink and sex the national obsession," it is an exquisitely crafted tale of America in the 1920s that resonates with the power of myth. A novel of lyrical beauty yet brutal realism, of magic, romance, and mysticism.
The ash of our fires by Shema Vallejo. A collection of poetry, stories, and feelings.
How to learn German Fast. This is the first book of many to try to learn this language. I wonder if I will try to get it!
My boy slave by Angel Lagguna a contemporary story about Artur a popular typical high schooler living a pleasant life. He meets Clark a less popular young man. A probable romance and a few high school drama.
Alchemy: the mystical power to alter the natural world; something between magic, art and science. When two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, dabbled in this power to grant their dearest wish, one of them lost an arm and a leg…and the other became nothing but a soul locked into a body of living steel. Now Edward is an agent of the government, a slave of the military-alchemical complex, using his unique powers to obey orders…even to kill. Except his powers aren't unique. The world has been ravaged by the abuse of alchemy. And in pursuit of the ultimate alchemical treasure, the Philosopher's Stone, their enemies are even more ruthless than they are
So the number of books acquired in total was 44 and I really would rather not say how much money that translates to. Let's be clear that buying books in Kindle or any ebook format does save a few pesos that's why I am doing that lately. I at least got half the ebooks at $0.0 or $0.0 pesos I generally go into Kindle store and browse for the free ones and get them. You ever know a gem might be hidden there!
Where do you guys generally get your books?
Well tht's it for me, see you later. Stay safe!
