May TBR 31 books in 31 days challenge

Image
This is a very interesting start. I am just returning again from a very long break I took the last few weeks (more like months at this point). I am debating if I should do a wrap-up for the last few months or just move on?  I have not updated anything since the second week of May. We will see. Also this coming month I have very ambitious plans. Let me try to lay an overview of the big plans.  Challenge 31 books in 31 days. *36 books in this list but by now I am not sure how to count them or not. I have several volumes in the same series. Week 1 • Fullmetal Alchemist vol 5 Hiromu Arakawa   • Fullmetal Alchemist vol 6 Hiromu Arakawa • Fullmetal Alchemist vol  7 Hiromu Arakawa • Fullmetal Alchemist vol  8 Hiromu Arakawa • Fullmetal Alchemist vol  9 Hiromu Arakawa This is another of the manga series I am trying to get through.  Breaking the laws of nature is a serious crime! In an alchemical ritual gone wrong, Edward Elric lost his arm a...

Familias Familiares

Image
Author: Vivian Mansour Illustrator: Juan Gedovius Pages 41 Genre: Children's Book Description: The protagonist of this story has a very special family: his father gets operations to prevent sickness that he had yet to get, her mother needs a map t not get lost in her own house, his sweet grandmother throws herself in the ground and has a fit each time that someone says a word with the letter "e". Therefore, one day in desperation, he decides to change his family.  Again this book I believe is only in Spanish but it is very sweet really. IT is a children's book therefore extremely short.  The lesson learned here is obviously about appreciating your own family and accepting its eccentricities as part of it an not be ashamed of them.  I give it a 4.0 stars The characters are mostly funny, very exaggerated in their quirks but useful for the story.  If found in the type of situations this kid was in, I assume it makes sense his initial dislike to ...

Exit Strategy

Image
Author: Martha Wells Series: The Murderbot #4 Publication year: October 2, 2018 Book Description (from GoodReads): Murderbot wasn’t programmed to care. So, its decision to help the only human who ever showed it respect must be a system glitch, right? Having traveled the width of the galaxy to unearth details of its own murderous transgressions, as well as those of the GrayCris Corporation, Murderbot is heading home to help Dr. Mensah—its former owner (protector? friend?)—submit evidence that could prevent GrayCris from destroying more colonists in its never-ending quest for profit. But who’s going to believe a SecUnit gone rogue? And what will become of it when it’s caught? Thoughts: By now it does feel a bit formulaic. The adventures keep piling up. Murderbot is still a bit annoying insisting it does not have feelings and continues to think humans cannot really care about or it should be possible to care for humans.  Anyway, Murderbot decides to finally go back to Dr. Mensa...

The Walking dead update

Image
Author: Robert Kirkman Illustrators: Charlie Adlard and Cliff Rathburn Genre: Sci-fi, Horror Publication date: 2010-2014 Description: the world has come to an end as we know it. There is an infestation of zombie, if you get bitten or scratched you will die and become one of the undead. A few groups of people have survived that and now are trying to rebuild from there. Things are not as easy as they would have assumed. The main threat as they soon come to realize is not the walking dead but those who are yet not infected. Includes volumes 12 to 16. Thoughts: I have started this series at least twice but I had never really made any progress before. This does feel like the first read. And by now I am way ahead of the point where I had initially left off. As it is a long series, I was unsure if doing a review was the best idea. Doing each one and try to be as vague as possible to not give away stuff was going to be impossible really.  The next idea was to do a review every f...
