Book description (From GoodReads):
When a beautiful, aspiring writer strides into the East Village bookstore where Joe Goldberg works, he does what anyone would do: he Googles the name on her credit card.
There is only one Guinevere Beck in New York City. She has a public Facebook account and Tweets incessantly, telling Joe everything he needs to know: she is simply Beck to her friends, she went to Brown University, she lives on Bank Street, and she’ll be at a bar in Brooklyn tonight—the perfect place for a “chance” meeting.
As Joe invisibly and obsessively takes control of Beck’s life, he orchestrates a series of events to ensure Beck finds herself in his waiting arms. Moving from stalker to boyfriend, Joe transforms himself into Beck’s perfect man, all while quietly removing the obstacles that stand in their way—even if it means murder.

Points to consider:
- Plot: 9.5
- The story is fast paced to say the least.
- Joe does his planning well and performs all the necessary adjustments to his life and Beck's in order to make her his.
- The ending, oh wow it was not as surprising because it is obvious the way things would end but still no disappointing. The way things develop is not always all that predictable and even if you get ideas and guess what Joe will do, the way he executes those ideas are not always the way you thought he would so it makes a very interesting read when not everything happens as you thought it would.
- Logic: 9.5
- Joe had a difficult childhood and something happened to him which I guess part of the reason he is as obsessed as he is with Beck.
- It does make sense that someone like Beck who lives on social media updating people an almost everything she does is easy to track and to monitor. People should really be more careful about what they share. XD
- Beck is not exactly the sanest girl in town nor she is the girl with the best qualities that would make someone fall for her, but Joe is not exactly in his right mind and he can't love her; he's obsessed with her.
- The way things ended between them was predictable but nonetheless, it was well written. The way Joe was going there was only one way things would end.
- Characters: 8.0
- Joe was smart and obsessive, but in some ways, it was almost endearing how dedicated he could be towards Beck. His biggest problem was that he was unable to place himself in other people's place and would blame everything Beck did wrong on other people and then take it out on them. That and the fact he was a murderer but oh well no one is perfect. I didn't really hate him, he was someone you just feel wary of. He was a bit off, maybe with help and with a little actual wish to be free of the obsession Joe could have been a nice person and a good boyfriend. He just needs a bit of time and focus his attention elsewhere and not in a person.
- Beck was my least favorite character. She is highly unlikable from my POV. A very selfish woman, interested in money, provocative and not only in the way to look for real relationships she was just doing it because she likes to feel wanted. She doesn't do any growth throughout the book, she is a liar selfish woman interested in using men for her benefit and never even accepts she has issues. She is always only centered on her own and not once she seems to really care about others, even when she is off to her friend's rescue is only because it ends up being convenient for her on some way.
- The other characters such as Benji and Peach are annoying on their own way but not overly so. They are not very developed they simply serve the purpose of being obstacles but at least you get a glimpse of their tiny little lives.
- In the bookstore, Joe's only relationships other than Beck are ok, the cheerful coworker and his girlfriend end up being very important to Joe. Nice development. And the relationship he has with the Bookstore owner is also a bit strange, but it kind of makes sense, after all, he is a sociopath and normal emotional responses are not part of his attributes.
- Intrigue: 9.0
- The book has a nice pace, it keeps getting interesting even if you do kind of see where the story is going it is still a nice ride to see how exactly everything goes down.
- The way it is told, only from Joe's POV makes it more interesting to experience. The audiobook was a great way to go with it because it is referred to as You, you are the object of his devotion which gives it a very unique feel to the story.
- Intention: 9.0
- The obvious lesson people should get from this is to not live your life on social media, posting your every move can be bad, it makes it easy for people to get details on you to find you, to know you and use that information against you.
- Also playing around with people's feelings simply to feel good about yourself doesn't turn out well for you in the end.
- And most importantly when someone is clearly obsessed with you and you feel threatened don't try to reason with the person, run like hellhounds are after you! If with a safe distance you think it might have been a misunderstanding, or if you still feel threatened then that's what the police is for. And another detail getting someone to confess their crimes even if it is a murderer is not worth it if you don't have a sure way to prove it. Unless you can record it, don't waste your time getting the confession because if you did manage to escape and denounce there really is no evidence of the confession and no way for you to link the murderer to the crimes.
- Writing Style: 10.0
- The way it is written, making you the reader, the object of Joe's affection well it makes a very interesting read ad t gives the atmospheric read to the story.
- Enjoyment: 9.0
