The Martian
Author: Andy Weir
Genre: Sci-Fi
Book description:
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars.
Now, he’s sure he’ll be the first person to die there.
After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive—and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive.
Chances are, though, he won’t have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plain-old “human error” are much more likely to kill him first.
Thoughts:
Characters: 10.0 For pure realism, charismatic. You don't only love and cheer for Mark who is the only person we get close to for the majority of the book, you still come to care about the other crew members and the main people in NASA while they try to live through their situation.
Plot:9.0
Logic: 9.0 Actually I have not read that much fantasy but it felt very realistic, it made sense, in the way that it did not feel that things were simply happening to move the plot along. And it felt like the situation was dire indeed, nothing was "conveniently" solved.
Intention: 10.0
Enjoyment: 10.0 Obviously, totally loved it!!!
So overall I give this a 5 star rating, this is a reread but even so, it is still a very captivating read.
