Genre: Historical Fiction
Book Description (from Good Reads): It’s wartime, and the Carver family decides to leave the capital where they live and move to a small coastal village where they’ve recently bought a home. But from the minute they cross the threshold, strange things begin to happen. In that mysterious house there still lurks the spirit of Jacob, the previous owners’ son, who died by drowning.
With the help of their new friend Roland, Max and Alicia Carver begin to explore the suspicious circumstances of that death and discover the existence of a mysterious being called The Prince of Mist—a diabolical character who has returned from the shadows to collect on a debt from the past. Soon the three friends find themselves caught up in an adventure of sunken ships and an enchanted stone garden, which will change their lives forever.

  • Characters: 8.0
    • There are very few a characters and there is not much development in them emotionally, but then again it is a very short story. My favorite part is the relationships evolvement between brother and sister.
  • Logic: 8.0
    • The way it develops the paranormal into everyday life, it's done very well. Even if there are things that are not 100% explained like the true nature of the Prince of mist and what makes him so powerful but oh well. Maybe it is coming in the next few books.
  • Plot: 8.5
  • Writing Style: 9.5
    • The way its written is beautiful, catching and it has just a tint of suspense and paranormal in a way that makes it a nice read.
  • Intrigue: 8.5
    • It is a slow start, giving very small hints of mystery and things to come but once the inquiries start to arrive they come in torrents. Even though it did not go to the stage where the intrigue is prolonged so much that it exasperates me because I can't figure it out.
    • And that twist, I did not see it coming, oh surprises.
  • Enjoyment: 9.5
    • The main flaw it the ending, again it does not end the way I wanted it to. But it was a very good ending nonetheless.
