Fast Food Genocide

Full title: Fast Food Genocide how processed food is killing us and what we can do about it

Authors: Robert Phillips and Joel Fuhrman
Genre: Non-fiction, Health
Original publication date: October 2017
Book Description (from Good Reads): Fast food is far more than just the burgers, fries, and burritos served at chain restaurants; it is also the toxic, human-engineered products found in every grocery store across America. These include cold breakfast cereals; commercial and preserved (deli) meats and cheeses; sandwich breads and buns; chips, pretzels, and crackers; fried foods; energy bars; and soft drinks. Fast foods have become the primary source of calories in the United States and consequently the most far-reaching and destructive influence on our population. The indisputable truth is that our highly processed diet is the source of a national health crisis that is exploding into a genocide with unseen tragic implications.
Heart attacks, strokes, cancer, obesity, ADHD, autism, allergies, and autoimmune diseases all have the same root cause – our addiction to toxic ingredients. New York Times bestselling author, board-certified physician, nutritional researcher, and leading voice in the health field Joel Fuhrman, M.D., explains why the problem of poor nutrition is deeper, more serious, and more pervasive than anyone imagined.

Fast Food Genocide

draws on twenty-five years of clinical experience and research to confront our fundamental beliefs about the impact of what we eat. This book identifies issues at the heart of our country’s most urgent problems. Fast food kills, but it also perpetuates bigotry and derails the American dream of equal opportunity and happiness for all. It leaves behind a wake of destruction creating millions of medically dependent and sickly people burdened with poor-quality lives. The solution hiding in plain sight — a nutrientdense healthful diet — can save lives and enable humans to reach their intellectual potential and achieve successful and fulfilling lives. Dr. Fuhrman offers a life-changing, scientifically sound approach that can alter American history and perhaps save your life in the process.

Thoughts:
This book feels huge in more than one way.
IT has a lot of facts and comparisons in a lot of different clinical studies, conjectures based on facts. IT is something most people would not be ready to see.
It presents facts based on scientific findings throughout several years but the findings are scary.

The huge consequences of bad diet is terrifying.

I feel like I am doing a lot of harm to my own health but it is still not enough to make huge changes, so it feel paranoic and extremist. Then again it makes sense, but due to my lack of conviction knowing that I will not really apply any of the tips to my life it makes me feel scared of the health issues I'll probably face at a later time and knowing that this could not only be suffered by me but my possible future children.

The last few chapters include tips of how to buy smarter and cook your food in order to get true calories and get the nutrients necessary for your body. It's very helpful if you are looking for ideas on how to change your diet to a more healthy

SCARY!! in a very different way that I expected.
This month I wanted to read more scary topics, and choose purposely the book because of the way the title sounded dark- Genocide- but it felt so much more real than what I assumed.

I gave this 3 stars.
Not because of the content was bad, but because of the length, so many stats and the repetitiveness of the message, in several chapters several facts were repeated or different clinical studies that also prove the same consequences. It felt like a stretch.
Maybe a bit of more concise text could have made it more enjoyable
