Book Description (from Good Reads): What would you do to inherit a million dollars? Would you be willing to change your life? Jason Stevens is about to find out in Jim Stovall's The Ultimate Gift.
Red Stevens has died, and the older members of his family receive their millions with greedy anticipation. But a different fate awaits young Jason, whom Stevens, his great-uncle, believes may be the last vestige of hope in the family.
Thoughts:
This is an interesting book.
I feel that the message is great yet it did not feel as heartwarming as I expected. I really liked the way Jason had to learn his lessons but the way it was related made it feel very disconnected.
Jason is facing the trail and he has a month to prove he learned his lesson, as the trial progresses the video presenting his gift is shown then the court gets to "hear" what he learned and how he spent 30 days sharing his knowledge with others. While he retells the experience of him sharing the gift with others you get snip bits of good stories yet they're very brief.
The family is very mentioned but Jason does not seem to care much about them, everyone seems to only be focused on money and thats it. Not surprising, that is a very realistic trait of come people but still the family relationship did not have the development I would have liked.
It was an ok story, a bit predictable and I did not feel very connected to the characters, but still felt the message it was giving was worth it.
I gave this a 3-star rating, as it was a good story, the great message.... simply it was not super engaging in my opinion.
This has nothing to do with anything but I like the cover, the journal kind of look it has makes me want to buy it simply to have it in display. But not sure it's going to happen any time soon, I had the audiobook and that was good so I really did not feel the need to go out of my way to try to get it in physical format.
