2021 Reading Goals
As usual, I am setting very ambitious goals for myself. There is always the possibility of changing or adjusting the goals but as of right now the plans are as follows:
*Reading goal: 225 books
*I want to get at least 24 Rereads (List of books coming, later on, keep an eye out for it).
*Read more graphic novels, mangas, and comics. Overall I think I can manage to get to 50 easily. We'll see about that if it's manageable or my confidence once more shinning through.
*Complete series. If I start a new one (in 2021) I must at least read more than 3 books in long series and if possible finish up to the latest published work. I want to finish at least 5 of the series I started before 2020. Feel free to scroll to the previous posts, there is a list of 87 series I have started some time ago (without counting the ones I stared and did not complete in 2020 I will make that analysis a bit later).
*Read more kindle books. I have already a big list of unread books saved in my Kindle. I did buy a Kindle this year to be able to read more of my digital eBooks, so might as well use it.
*Track reading in The Storygraph I just added my account and moved my Good Reads so I will try to keep both updated and play around while I decide which one to keep. The GR is way more popular, but then again the only use I have for them is to track what I read and the ratings. The win in Storygraph, it shows your stats about reading. it shows reading stats by Year: ratings, book genres, etc.
*Fill in the Excel file for the reads. This is the first year I will be using a file that is able to fill out the graphics and tables on its own. I had a lot of effort to write the formulas. If you wish to the Excel file can be found in the shared drive here:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1cMNVLQ_kRpxadMrf5mLIrzET5OsLsmbQ?usp=sharingFeel free to download a copy and use it if it shows useful information for you. If you wish to it can be modified to reflect other data you wish to track. Feel free to play around with the copy you download or use it to create your own Tracking file.
*Read the backlist of the authors in publication order
*Buy the same or less amount of books of my read books. At the end of each month balance them. In the case of negative balance, then the next month it needs to be added to the Negative side and that way balance it out with the read books. It is hard to put the process in words but think the addition of positive and negative numbers follows that logic. The first month of January will start in balance it might be easier to understand then.
Example:
Buy 10 books (digital, be it in Kindle or Audible or physical copies).
I read 12 books this month.
I get a +2 balance because the amount of books is bigger than the bought ones.
Next month we start with a +2 and do the same balance with the books read and bought. So if I read 8 books I add the +2 adding to 10, next place it in the green (Read) box. The number of books bought will go to the red box. And do the sum again to get a new balance. The goal is to always have a balance in positive.
For now, this is it in my reading goals for the upcoming year.
Let me know what are your reading goals and if you have any that are similar to mine I would like to know. Stay safe and enjoy this wonderful Holiday Season!
