Series Started long ago part 2

A very ambitious plan was formed in my mind. I'm kidding I really had no idea how much this would contain. When I first thought of this list I expected it to be much smaller. My initial plan was to make a list for series started in 2020 and one for series started before from there I would start making my fine details on what series to finish in 2021. I normally have a list of series I already started and want to finish and a list of series t start. I love to plan, this is a new habit. As you can tell I had no plans for most of the time I spent reading I did everything on the go. But there are so many series, trilogies, duologies, and standalone that it's hard to keep up.

To hold myself accountable I am going to continue, this list is the second part to the series started before 2020 that  I have yet to complete. You can expect a few posts later this month with a similar theme. Also, wait around for the series I started this year, or maybe I will not even get to that one in December. Oh well, hard to know, at the moment I am not even sure myself when I'll get around to that.

I am not going in any particular order just like before. Without further ado, let's get to it!

A middle-grade series I started was Cassidy Blake by Victoria Schwab. This starts off with Cassidy, of course, who has the ability to see ghosts after a near-death experience. She has a best friend who also happens to be a ghost. She does not let anyone know of her ability not even her family. The parents are ghosthunters, they explore legends and places said to be hunted, with this detail I was unsure why she didn't just come clean but oh well. In one of her parents' trips, she meets another young woman her age who is also gifted the same way. Cassidy has never understood the point, the why she can see ghosts, this new friend of hers has a theory. The ghosts must be put to rest. Cassidy does not wish that because it means her best friend must also leave her. It is very dramatic and fun. We have unlikely friends and adventures. I have read was it the first 2 in the series? It might be a trilogy so I am getting close to finishing it.

Robert Langdon by Dan Brown. This is another series I started in 2016. It is about Robert Langdon who is a scholar who is dragged into a mystery that ends up showing much more than what he expected. This is a mystery thriller story that keeps you guessing and traps you in their world. I was very excited to continue the series but so far I have yet to do it.

Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery is a classic series. I am trying to get to as I wish to get to the most well-known classics. This is the story of Anne an orphan very imaginative girl who is trying to adapt to life with her adoptive parent. Like in most cases, I have read only a single book. I should hurry up and return to this world.

Miss Marple by Agatha Christie. this is a series of stories following Mis Marple of course as she tries to help out and has several mysteries (murders mostly) that take place in her hometown. This is another series I have heard plenty about and yet I did not start it in the correct order. The good news I did try to continue this series this year so I have made progress but again have not completed it.

I also started another of her series by Agatha Christie Hercule Poirot. Again this is a series of stories of crimes resolved by the detective Poirot. I have read quite a few of them and he is a very annoying character. But the stories are enjoyable. There are a few books in the series, I have read about 10 of them and there are still a few more to go.

The Daevabad Trilogy by S.A. Chakraborty is a fantasy series following Jin and a world based in a magical land close to Cairo. A woman who thinks she is a normal woman one night summons a jin accidentally and he drags her to a world of magic, political wars, and power struggle. The final book was published in 2020 and I have yet to get to it even after making a goal to read it in Summer-Autumn. So I need to get my s**t together and actually carry out my plans.

The D'Artagnan Romances by Alexandre Dumas. Once more a classic series I had all intention of reading but I started out of order and got lost. Then I planned to research the correct order and get the books, but it did not happen. I started this in 2018 and read-only book 3.4 so now I need to read book one and carry on with the correct order this time. This is the series that includes the 3 musketeers, I have seen millions of adaptations but I really wish to get to the source material sometime soonish.

(I do not own a copy of any of the books but I found these covers while searching for the order and the full collection, I just love it.)

A thousand night by E.K. Johnston a fantasy story based on the Thousand nights tales as the name suggests. I started this 2018. I do not remember this at all and yet in my review, I did say I loved the characters and the magic, so I will have to reread this first one and move on to the next book in the duology, and then if that is good go for the novella set in the same world.  A girl decides to protect her sister and she takes her place to marry this man who has killed thousands of wives of his. She discovers a power she had no idea was dormant inside of her and with it, she aspires to save herself and her people.

A children's book I never read as a kid and now want to get tho is Winnie the Pooh by A.A. Milne, this requires no introdcution. We follow Pooh and his friends on their adventures.  I started this in 2018, and I simply did not finish it. No particular reason just never got around to it.

Dear Martin series by Nic Stone. I read the first book and really enjoyed the experience but at the same time, I was very frustrated and angry by what was going on. So that was the main reason why I did not immediately pick up the next book. I should look for the next one and get to it.

The remnant Chronicles by Mary E. Pearson. This is a fantasy romance story. A young princess is meant to marry a prince, she has an arranged marriage to a man she has never met. She runs away but she is quickly found. An assassin and the prince she was intended to marry catch her and they interact with her and the maid who helped her escape. We follow both of them as they play the chase. She is soon to be involved in a huge political power play. This series was started in 2018 as well. I own the two following books in the trilogy. I very recently got them so now I have to reread the first one and carry on to complete it.

A sci-fi series I started in 2018 and recently got a conclusion as well is the arc of a scythe by Neal Shusterman. This follows two young teenagers in a world where technology has advanced enough to have no negativity, no more wars, sickness, no food, or fuel issues. The only problem, overpopulation. In order to keep this controlled there world created the Scythe, a group who is in charge of killing, they control the population by killing people, and when a scythe takes a life the person is not treated or healed. But there are a lot of inside struggles in the organization and these two will help make it more noticeable.

Time Quintet by Madeleine L'Engle a sci-fi story following a family, the focus is in Wallace a very bright young man who is not like everybody else and sees the world in a different way. He has abilities and his family is pulled to several struggles and travel along a very fine line, not sure if there are magical abilities or some sort of abilities- I no longer remember what the first 2 books were about really.

You by Caroline Kepness is a contemporary story. We follow Joe and his story as he falls for a woman and simply stalks her. I am not sure what the second book could possibly be about as when I finished this book it felt like a complete story. So I am a bit hesitant to pick up the next one. Also, there is a series so I might as well reread you, finish the second book and get to the series. When is that? Maybe 2021is the year.

Cape bay cafe mystery by Harper Lin. this is a cozy murder mystery taking place in a small town and having for the main character to Francesca. There are a few companion novels let's say that follow the same or a few of the same characters, it was an enjoyable read but nothing that was pushing me to continue as each one solves the mystery and it starts in another with a few added characters. So I will probably pick one or two more but I'm in no hurry to get the right now.

Another set of companion novels Love & gelato by Jenna Evans Welch it follows teenage girls I assume a different character maybe who run into each other or maybe not. But each takes place in different nice European settings. Another book I read in 2018. It was a good read but I no longer really remember the storyline. It might be a good idea to reread this first book before deciding if getting the next ones.

Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi. this is a middle-grade fantasy story. We follow Alice Alexis and Oliver as they start a journey across Furthermore. They must face the dangers together. This series I started in 2018, again it is a book that was mentioned everywhere so I el for the hype but I did not manage to continue even now. I will try to buy the full series and binge read them. I hope this is sooner rather than later.

Moriarty by Annelie Wendeberg a historical fiction book set in the 19th century where a bacteriologist runs into Sherlock Holmes. The detective discovers the big secret Dr Krongberg hides. They both work alongside each other solving the mysterious death and cross paths in several occasions I assume.

The Lightbringer by Brent Weeks. this is a fantasy story that I really like because of the magic system based on colors. It's one of those series I started in 2018 and I expected to read in the next year, so right now it's the end of 2020 and I have yet to read the last 2 books in the series. I need to look for books 4 and 5 but I might need to reread the first 3 before I start those and as each book is over 600 pages that might go slow.

The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert is a fantastical story about Alice a young woman who is looking for her mother who has gone missing after the death of the grandmother both of them were not close to. She discovers the mystery of the books the very recluse grandmother of her wrote. The Hazel wood and she discovers a lot of family secrets.

Shadowdance by David Dalglsih a fantasy series about Thren Felhorn the greatest assassin of his time and Aaron his heir. I remember I ended up enjoying this series and I wanted to continue with the rest of the series, almost two years later and I still need to get to it.

Bird box by Josh Malerman, this follows Malorie as she tries to survive in a world where there is something out there that turns people inside and murderous by mere sight. The mystery is great here but it became a series as a second book was released this year. I have yet to decide if reading the second one is a good idea or not.

Magisterium by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare a YA or maybe a middle-grade story. We follow a trio of children who are in a magical school and there is a great evil, a chosen one, and a very smart girl. Yes, I am going to read this simply because it is a magical school. I have just a hard time getting the next few books. I already have the first four. I did not manage to get them in Spanish so now I have the first 3 in Spanish and the next two possible will only be available in English so I might as well get them like that.

Night by Elie Wiesel a series of books written by a Holocaust survivor. I have read the first book several times but I was not aware it is a trilogy. So I will have to find the next ones and finish this journey. This is heart-wrenching but very worth read.

Giant days by John Allison. this is a graphic novel about a group of girls who are starting college and we follow their lives as they assimilate the changes in their life and the way they see the world around them. I have been trying to find the volumes to get through them, so hope to finish this sometime soonish.

Wonder by R.J. Palacio. A story about August who was born with a facial difference and how he is treated the first time he goes to school. He has a very supportive and protective family. I just loved it and it was so emotional especially due to the topic itself. I have not been able to find the second book, as soon as I get ti I will read it.

Six stories by Matt Wesolowski. This was a very interesting murder mystery. Enjoyed it and was fairly surprised by it, so why Have I not carried on? I read this in 2019 and I am still not even close to finishing it. It does not help that I had forgotten there were more books I was supposed to search for. I do need to reread this I am not sure if the series is a direct series or if they're companion novels.

Gentleman bastard by Scott Lynch. A fantasy story following Lock as he grows up and becomes the greatest thieves (in their own humble opinion) and how their family faces several dangers together.

To start off I once more thought there were fewer options left to include in this one post so we're going to have a part 3 later this week. For now, this is the end of our list.

Feel free to help me decide to get back into any of the ones mentioned here. As you can tell there is a competition issue.

So far we have seen 64 series I have started and have yet to complete. I will have to repeat myself, I can't stop saying it: Way more than what I thought it was going to be!

See you guys later, stay healthy, stay safe!
