Series I'm in the middle of part 3

This is a note to me. I hope that by investing so much time in trying to track all my started series I make a real effort to complete them from now on!

Carrying on, we are listing all the series I have started and have yet to complete for whatever reason. For the next few min, I'll torture myself. This is going to be the last part dedicated to the started series. Lets' go!

Jake Brigance series by John Grisham a few books happen like this, I was not sure it was a series, but I have read the first two and have one left to go. This is I assume following the same person and are generally the lawyer Brigance as he pulls some fantastic legal advice and helps or defends those people in need. I only have Time for Mercy left to get to but I will probably reread the first two again in 2021.

Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi a graphic novel telling a bit about the life of the author. This is nonfiction very accessible and easy to get through. I should totally read it soon.

Newsflesh by Mira Grant a dystopian zombie story. I remember enjoying the first book but I was not even aware it was a trilogy. But again I need to reread this one and then find the next two in the trilogy.

American Gods by Neil Gaiman. This super popular book and tv series (is it a series or movie?) I have started but need to get back to it, it's been over one year since I started it. I remember it took me a while to get into the story as I was confused but I ended up liking the story overall.

The trials of Apollo by Rick Riordan. The continuation of the book series by Riordan about mythology. We see a small change, the main character is Apollo, he is forced into a mortal teenage body as part of his punishment for angering Zeus. He is in a quest to save the Gods and get back in the good graces of his father to be returned to his immortal godly self. I wanted to read the next ones as I only read the first one, but I have yet to get the books I really want to get the physical copies to add to my Riordan's book collection.

Another graphic novel I started but then never picked up the next ones is The wicked + the divine by Kieron Gillen. This follows a group of humans who are the reincarnation of gods. I only read volume one and it seemed promising, I should find the next ones and get on with it with the first volume I read I was still unsure of the overall plot so not sure if it will be something I might enjoy or if it's going to simply be an ok read.

The hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy series. A modern classic sci-fi series. The first book was ok and pretty funny but there are about six books in the main series with a few more extras.

Villains by V.E. Schwab. This is a sci-fi series about antiheroes. It starts with the two best friends who developed an idea on how to get super abilities after surviving near-death experiences. You follow two different timelines, one is where they are students and trying to obtain the abilities. the other is years later when they are adults and have become enemies.

Brian's Saga by Gary Paulsen. This is a children's story of a young man who suffers a plane accident and ends up stuck in a remote zone in the Canadian mountains. It is a story I remember loving so much. I don't really know what else we will get in the series but I am hopeful as I loved this first book.

The Black Butler by Yana Toboso. Another manga I have started on several occasions. This follows Ciel a young man who makes a deal with a demon, he wishes to get vengeance and in exchange for that, he promises his soul.

Ranma 1/2 by Rumiko Takahashi a manga following two families mainly. Akane and Ranma are told they have an arranged marriage as their fathers decided that they would join their families once their respective children were of age. Ranma is training in martial arts and Akane is a very strong-willed young woman who also dedicates her time to martial art training.

Mateo Alacran by Nancy Farmer. This is a sci-fi story. the first book starts with Mateo, he has grown up in a house always out of sight, growing up alone with no interaction with many people, and soon he finds other humans around him, but his existence is a secret. As he learns more about the wider world more confusion is thrown his way. I really want to finish the series but I really want to own a physical copy of the book so as soon as I get the second book I'll read it right away.

Winternight trilogy by Katherine Arden. A middle grade or YA fantasy story based in Russian folklore. I really like the idea but as I read the first book I had such a hard time connecting and being invested with the characters. The idea of a girl who can see the protective or good spirits and the bad ones, and trying to keep them please with offering to protect her land as the people stop believing in them. It is such an interesting idea but I just had a hard time getting through the book. But I want to continue the story hope that it gets better.

The witchlands Susan Dennard. This land of magic where people's abilities are designated and used for their own benefit. we follow two young women, friends who will defend each other even with their lives. I really remember loving this one, so I need to get the rest of the series and read it!

Serpent & dove by Shelby Mahurin. This is a historical fantasy story we have a witch and a witch hunter who end up forced to marry and the normal hiding from the witch-hunter as she knows if she is discovered as a witch-it means death. We follow the witches' fight against the church and how everything evolves into chaos. This was a good story but as time went on, my enthusiasm waned, so I will get to this but I am not in too much of a hurry.

The Epic Crush of Genie Lo by F.C. Yee. A young woman named Genie (of course) discovers a young man who is set on marrying her. With him, a whole bunch of magical beings are uncovered. She must discover how to manage her newfound power and decide what to do with the young man whose goal is to become her husband. This is a YA fantasy series, nothing to complain a solid series in the first book as its the only one I have read.

The Diabolic by S.J. Kincaid. A sci-fi story, there are diabolics, created humanoid creatures bred and raised for violence, and with the sole purpose of protecting a specific human. We follow a specific one, she is sent to impersonate the girl she is in charge of and while she is there she is thrown into a political power struggle. It was a very intriguing story but there was a little detail I was not very into, but I am still decided to finish this series.

The midnight thief by Livia Blackburne. Another fantasy story of a young poor girl who has an uncanny ability to sneak and get her hands on other people's belongings. She is approached by the leader of the Assasins Guild and offers a very lucrative job. That's when the whole thing explodes in her face.

Howl's moving castle by Diana Wynne Jones. This lovely fantastical young woman ends up trapped in the body of an old lady after a witch feels offended by her. She leaves her home and tries to find Howl to ask him to remove her curse.

Christmas by Matt Haig. This is a  very festive series I started last year around December as well. I am unable to give a good description so here it is the one in GoodReads: A Boy Called Christmas is a tale of adventure, snow, kidnapping, elves, more snow, and an eleven-year-old boy called Nikolas, who isn't afraid to believe in magic.

Mary Poppins by P.L. Travers. This is a classic children's story following Mary a nanny who comes to help a young couple with their cihldren. It's more nonsensical than what I expected. I own the series but Mary is a very unlikable character. My dislike for her has made picking up her books be pushed a bit behind each month. I will get to that last book soon!

Chronicles of the One by Nora Roberts. A fantasy story about a world after a sickness that ends up wakening the magical abilities of the survivors. And the prophecy of a child born after the end of the modern world and who would have power like never seen before.

The two princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine. A young 12-year-old princess starts an adventure to search for the cure for an incurable sickness. It is a middle-grade story that I was interested in but forgot about it as many other things come my way. I will get to it eventually.

The final count of the series started and I am not caught up to is 87. The series in which the next book in the series has yet to be published.

There were a few more series I have yet to complete but as I was making this list, I made the decision that I will not continue them. I'll update with the ones I officially DNF for next year. Maybe a few of the ones already here will be moved to that category.

If anyone has strong feelings about any of the series mentioned do drop me a line or two about it in the comments. I'll try to narrow the priority list for the series to finish the upcoming 2021.

That is it for now, see you guys later. Stay safe!
