Series to complete 2021

The point of this is to hold myself accountable for one of the least consistent aspects of my reading habits. Completing Series!

I have to get better at this for such purpose I will have a list of Series either I have plans on completing or catching up in the next 12 months. Like any new beginning, I have a ton of plans and I really am looking forward to accomplishing them. Wish me luck.

Giving bad summaries of the top 10 series I want to get to this year.

Sidenote: I have seen this on a few youtube channels and wish to take part in that trend.

1. Precious stone trilogy by Kerstin Geir.

This is a fantasy story. A girl discovers she is a time traveler when all her life she has seen her older cousin be trained for that. She is surprised at the change of roles and must face the challenges of the responsibility and power struggle she trusts upon. I have read the first book in the trilogy and I remember most of it so I'll jump right to the second and third books. I do not own them but the whole trilogy is in Scribd so I'll take advantage of that and read it there.

2. Series of unfortunate events by Lemony Snicket

I have been making my way through this series once more in 2020 but I didn't manage to complete them. The volumes 8 to 13 are left.  I have not bought the series as it's a bit expensive. I'll continue to consider it as the year goes by. We follow a very formulaic scenario as it happens in many Children's book series. We follow the Baudelaire orphans as they try to stay out of the clutches of Count Olaf. After the death of their parents in a terrible fire, the three siblings are placed under the care of guardians and they will get control of the family fortune once Violent the oldest reaches 18. Count Olaf is the first guardian and he is keen on taking the fortune away from the children and he is willing to do anything to get it. So far we have seen him, lie, cheat, and kill. He is stopping at nothing.

This is a very popular series, but I didn't complete it when I was growing up so now I will.

3. Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan.

Another very popular series everyone grew up reading. It is an epic story following the story of the chosen one and his closest friends. It's a classic defeat the dark one story. I read the first one in the series now I have to try to get to the rest. I might not be able to complete it, but I want to get through most of it this year.

4. Gentleman Bastard Series by Scott Lynch

This follows a group of friends who are not exactly law-abiding citizens. It's a character-focused story and you fall for the characters even if they try to pull heists, steal fortunes, or other dubious activities.

5. Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman

This is the story of how a group of people who are trying to survive a zombie apocalypse spends more time focusing on personal issues than fighting the dead who are trying to eat them.

6. Magisterium by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare

It follows three young preteens as they go to a magic school among them are a very smart girl, the chosen one, and a friend everyone wants to look down upon. So yeah you know where this is going, we have to fight the evil man who wants to destroy the magical and nonmagic people! That's right HP but not.  I have read the first 3 books and have to pick up the last two of the series. I am still deciding if rereading the first few books before finishing up the series.

7. Song of ice and fire by George RR Martin

This is the second year I place this series as my top series to get to in the year. I have read only the first book. This is an epic fantasy story, full of political intrigue, backstabbing, and obsession with dragons.

8. Broken Earth Trilogy by N.K. Jemisin

Another epic fantasy. The world is coming to an end and people are busy squabbling and discriminating against those who are different from them for no real reason.

9.  Spellslinger series by Sebastien de Castell

A very cocky mage-to-be is losing his magic and instead of doing the reasonable thing and talk to his peers about it, he goes on a dangerous mission to get his power back.

10. The faithful and the fallen by John Gwynne

An epic revenge story of a man who gets his wish granted (the thing he has wished to be all his life) and he regrets it immediately.

If anyone has read them please do let me know how they feel about them or if you are trying to read any of them. No need for spoilers (wink).

If anyone is interested in some of the series mentioned above and you don't really wish to buy all of them feel free to try Scribd. You can use the referral code: https://www.scribd.com/g/72ocvr

With this, you get a 60-day free trial period and you can then purchase your subscription at approx $8.99 per month. You do not get any extra charge if you use this code, I do get a reward of a 30-day free period if you join using my code.

I have been using Scribd for a while and I really enjoy it. You can get access to a few audiobooks per month and tons of ebooks. Be aware that audiobooks are limited (you get I believe 2 per month), at least the most popular books or authors, a few older ones are available to hear as many as you want. The ebooks so far I have seen do not have a limit to how many you read in a single month. You can sort through there and if a book or book series is there you can save up money and by only buying those not available.

That is all for now guys.

Stay safe, Stay healthy.
