5 challenge day 3
Okay day 3, it went a bit better. I did finish reading this until very late at night. It would have been much easier had a finished the Knight's shadow the day it was supposed to be.
Either way, I managed to get it done. Funny thing the most difficult thing was to catch up with the reviews posted. I decided not to publish them out of order. So I had to hurry to finish writing them.
Title: The thirteen problem
Author: Agatha Christie
Genre: Mystery/Thriller
Original publication date: 1932
Book description:
The Tuesday Night Club is a venue where locals challenge Miss Marple to solve recent crimes. One Tuesday evening a group gathers at Miss Marple’s house and the conversation turns to unsolved crimes. The case of the disappearing bloodstains; the thief who committed his crime twice over; the message on the death-bed of a poisoned man which read ‘heap of fish’; the strange case of the invisible will; a spiritualist who warned that ‘Blue Geranium’ meant death. Now pit your wits against the powers of deduction of the ‘Tuesday Night Club’
Thoughts:
One afternoon at a gathering a few people start playing a game. They like to test the wits and deduction skills of one another. Miss Marple is invited, for most of the guests, this is a bit of an unusual invitation as the old lady is not believed to enjoy their parlor games.
She surprises everyone, she not only finds it agreeable to spend the evening hearing mysteries and tragic stories but she has an uncanny ability to find out the truth way before the rest of the people gathered can.
As the title suggests, there are 13 people, and each one shares a story. A mysterious crime or circumstance and the rest have to guess what really happened. I will not describe the specific cases as its best when you go into them a bit blind. Each is fantastic and hard to figure out. Only Miss Marple manages to figure them all out.
Another great example of why A. Christie is such a well-known author. I do wonder how she did it. She has at least a book a year and even if they are not very long they all feel unique. A great choice if you want to read only a few minutes a day. You can read a story a day and in a few days, you finish a book even if you only dedicate a little time to reading. It gives you a sense of accomplishment when read in stages. Even if each story within is short and concise but very compelling, you can't stop until it is concluded and Miss Marble provides us the answer.
This is it for today, now to get back to reading I still have to complete my chosen read for today. I am enjoying my time in this challenge more than I expected. It feels great to have short challenges. It makes me feel accomplished, again reading is not a competition but whatever you can use to make you feel better is appreciated, especially right now.
See you later.
Stay safe!
