5 day challenge Day 1

Mondays are usually very busy days at work; so I wanted to pick something I was sure I would be able to complete. I choose the next installment in the Series of unfortunate events.
It was a questionable plan as I want to review each book for the series, and I was a bit behind on writing and posting those reviews. I had to get them ready before I was able to publish the one book I was reading for this challenge.
Mission accomplished, the reviews for the missing books went up yesterday, just in time so I could publish this Tuesday as promised. I had a bit of a hard time trying to write it and post it before the end of my shift while still getting things done.
I hope to be able to pull that off each day. I want to start my designated read right after work, so I have quite a few hours of the day and if necessary around 10 pm be done and get my review ready and scheduled to go up the next day. I am making that my set schedule but it's not like I can't push it to later in the night if I can' finish my book.
In the case of series, I need to make sure I have the previous books already posted the review otherwise it messes with my continuality. The Greatcoat series (book chosen for day 2) is another case where I am reading a book for this challenge and I have yet to post the review for the previous installment. I need to have that posted already.
Now that I think about it, the Agatha Christie books I am reading in publication order so I need to make sure the ones before them also are already reviewed before I get to the ones included in this 5-day challenge.
This was a mistake I just went back to my blog posts and realized that I have 6 books reviews missing before the ones picked for this challenge for days 3 and 4. Agatha Christie was a very prolific author and I wanted to get through her entire bibliography and to make things more interesting in publication date. If I keep my original plan I have to do the review for those 6 books, plus the first in the greatcoats series without counting the two I already did in order to be able to get to this one of Series of unfortunate events.
My planning abilities are great! I definitely chose very bad books for this TBR.
I just made a lot of extra work for myself when I want to dedicate as much time as possible to reading.
I have two options, get all the reviews done ASAP or change my TBR.

Book title: The austere academy

Series: A series of unfortunate events #5
Author: Lemony snicket
Original publication date: August 31, 2000
Description (letter from the author):

Dear Reader,

If you are looking for a story about cheerful youngsters spending a jolly time at boarding school, look elsewhere. Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire are intelligent and resourceful children, and you might expect that they would do very well at school. Don't. For the Baudelaires, school turns out to be another miserable episode in their unlucky lives.

Truth be told, within the chapters that make up this dreadful story, the children will face snapping crabs, strict punishments, dripping fungus, comprehensive exams, violin recitals, S.O.R.E., and the metric system.

It is my solemn duty to stay up all night researching and writing the history of these three hapless youngsters, but you may be more comfortable getting a good night's sleep. In that case, you should probably choose some other book.

With all due respect,

Lemony Snicket

Thoughts:

I enjoyed my time reading this one. It was such a relief compared to the previous one. We still have adults who are annoying, self-centered and they should definitely not be allowed to become caretakers of anyone.

Let's backtrack a bit. Violet, Klaus, and Sunny are sent to a boarding school because Mr. Poe has no time to look for another guardian. Just as they get there The vice Principal greets them and informs them of very absurd rules and punishment in case they should not meet the expectations. Also informs them of a stupid protocol where they are not allowed housing, as they do not have a guardian to sign the necessary forms for that.
Instead of rooms, they get a shack with nothing but a pile of hay to sleep in and infested with a very odd pest.
Sunny as she is a toddler and cannot go to school as they do not have a proper grade for her, is given a job! The absurdism of the story is hilarious on a few occasions.
The Baudelaire siblings, meet two triplets, their other sibling having perished but they still prefer to be referred to as triplets.
The five of them become fast friends. Count Olaf once more shows up almost immediately after the Baudelaires. This time the children choose not to reveal who he really is, while they try to figure out the evil plan. The triplets try to aid them, but the plan is discovered too late.
We see again the children face situations no child should have to endure and the adults once more are useless to protect and defend them.
We do get hints of a grand plan or something. The triplets discover something about Count Olaf and his schemes, but they are not able to share the information with the Baudelaires.
I am intrigued now to see where this leads off and the big plan Count Olaf does not want the world to know.

Day one went well but at the same time, I realized a bit late that my TBR is going to be more challenging than I expected, and not because of the books themselves.

That's it for now, I'll see you later.
Stay safe!
