Lord Edgware dies

 Series: Hercule Poirot #9

Author: Agatha Christie

Genre: Mystery/Thriller

Original publication date: 1933

Book description:

An Agatha Christie mystery story. Poirot had been present when Jane bragged of her plan to ‘get rid of’ her estranged husband. Now the monstrous man was dead. And yet the great Belgian detective couldn’t help feeling that he was being taken for a ride. After all, how could Jane have stabbed Lord Edgware to death in his library at exactly the same time she was seen dining with friends? And what could be her motive now that the aristocrat had finally granted her a divorce?

Thoughts:

Our favorite detective Poirot is invited to a get together. In there a very well known actress married to the also well known Lord Edgware. They had a very strained relationship. Jane wished to get rid of her husband and request the help of Poirot to talk some sense into her husband to sign their divorce.

As usual, Poirot has a weak spot for young beautiful women. That seems to be part of his character. Poirot aggress to help Jane. And well then it happens, Lord Edgware is found dead. killed and the police are doing their investigations.

The beautiful Jane gets dragged into as she had made it very public her wish to have her husband killed.

I will not dive too much into details. Poirot is trying to find out the truth and only he could have made the connection from the events and the peculiar deductions he makes in order to discover the truth.

This is a quick read, the short straightforward chapters that make the reading a great experience.

This is the last book review from the missing ones. Just in time.
