April Book Haul

Last month again I managed to have very little self-restraint but I feel good to have bought myself several gifts. The last few weeks have been different from the stress of the current situation I can't really concentrate on reading as much as I would like.
So I have been trying to find different options to have so let's take a look in what we have bought so far:

Digital Book Haul:
1. You are not alone, Geer Hendricks and Sarah  Pekkanen a mystery/thriller about a woman who witnesses the suicide of a stranger in a train station and becomes obsessed with her. Due to several misunderstandings, she gets tangled in the life the woman was trying to run away from. This was used as part of the Literally Dead Book club created by Kayla from Books and Lala. It was acquired via Audible because I really need to use my credits on time, and as usual, I try to save up on as much money as possible.

2. Cleaning the gold (Oro Sucio), Karin Slaughter and Lee Child translator Carmen Villar the number 23.6 in the Jack Reacher story where Wil Trent is investigating Jack Reacher a suspect on a murder that took place years ago. Jack Reacher is on a different mission, he is on the trail of a criminal ring operating in the military. This was found in Amazon Kindle but I was definitely not aware this was part of the series, well I'll read this out of order. I am not going to buy the 23.5 previous works.

3. Naruto vol 1 by Masashi Kishimoto. This translated work shows Naruto a young teen who is starting the training to become a ninja but he is full of mischief and misfortune. This is the start of an adventure, friendships, learning the way of the Leaf village. He wishes to become the Hokage, the most important ninja the leader who protects the village from any harm. He has always faced the scorn of the villagers but he is willing to fight that and force people to acknowledge him as the best ninja ever seen in Leaf.

4. Sunstone vol 1, Stjepan Sejic a graphic novel a very unique love story. From Goodreads as I have not read it and have no good way to describe it: Lisa's tastes were always...unique. Longing to be restrained, without restrain. Lisa always felt like something was missing from her love life─until she met Ally. Ally was implacably ordinary─successful job, nice house, an average childhood─except for her preference for bedroom domination.

5. Kingsman the secret service, Mark Millar another graphic novel action-filled, shows a secret organization of English spies. I picked it simply because I saw the two movies and would like to see the work that inspired the funny movie.
Under Uncle Jack's supervision, Gary's spy skills and confidence blossom--but when the duo learn what's behind the celebrity kidnappings, the knowledge comes at a price. The conspiracy begins to unravel, but who can be trusted when so many prominent figures seem to be involved? It's a must-be-seen-to-be-believed action spectacle!

6. Become a creative genius in 21 days, Gayatri Karla Sehgal this is a book to help you unleash your creative intelligence in your child and let them have some fun as well. It is an extremely short one.

7. A puppy in a basket, Danean Townsend a children picture book.

8. Heran in the belly of the beast, Shadow Black. Heran was a headstrong African princess who longed to become a warrior instead of just lounging around in the palace. She starts to investigate when two women went missing when they went to fetch water.

9. The Mysteries of London by George W.M. Reynolds.

10. The hidden wizard, Vaughan W. Smith this is a YA fantasy story. Learning the ways of a wizard is not enough. Alrion is charged with a quest to cleanse the Blight. He’s the world’s last chance to be free of that malevolent force, and the twisted creatures that it creates.
Three trials await the young wizard. He must conquer each of the pillars of magic: Knowledge, Will, and Spark. Only then will he be ready to face his destiny.

11. Fragments of the lost, Megan Miranda. A mystery thriller story about Tess who is struggling to handle her current situation, her ex-boyfriend died in an accident and she is grieving but overall feeling guilty. The whole town, her schoolmates, her family, everyone treats her with gloves as she is not doing well with the situation, but things don´t add up. She starts to uncover that she might not have known her boyfriend at all.

12. Royal assassin (Asesino real), Robin Hobbs this is the second part of the trilogy Fitz is learning that being part of political maneuvers is not as simple as he thought, and he is swept into it whether he wants to or not.
This should pick up right where the first one left off. It was getting to the good part. I am anxious to get back to it.

For the physical books I did also buy some:

1. Skipping Christmas, John Grishan. This is a book not in mystery/thriller but a nice contemporary family-focused story.

2. Firestarter, Stephen King. A mystery thriller with a slice of supernatural/sci-fi like most of his works. Andy McGee and Vicky Tomlinson were once college students looking to make some extra cash, volunteering as test subjects for an experiment orchestrated by the clandestine government organization known as The Shop. But the outcome unlocked exceptional latent psychic talents for the two of them—manifesting in even more terrifying ways when they fell in love and had a child. Their daughter, Charlie, has been gifted with the most extraordinary and uncontrollable power ever seen—pyrokinesis, the ability to create fire with her mind. Now the merciless agents of The Shop are in hot pursuit to apprehend this unexpected genetic anomaly for their own diabolical ends by any means necessary...including violent actions that may well ignite the entire world around them as Charlie retaliates with a fury of her own.

3. The dead zone, Stephen King another thriller/horror story about John Smith who after an accident and head injury he gained the ability to see the future. He sees the end of the world, now his mission is to stop that prediction from coming to pass.

4. Inuyasha Vol 5, 6, 8 and 9 this is by Rumiko Takahashi a Japanese manga telling the story of a young woman who is transported to Japan feudal era where demons, priests, and demon slayers still roamed the world. She is tasked with finding a ancient jewel with immense power that could bring unimaginable power, but the evil forces cannot be allowed to find it.

5. The republic of thieves, Scott Lynch this is the third book in the gentleman bastard series, we continue along with Locke Lamora as he and his crew. We can't really say much as it would spoil the two previous books but they continue to exert their line of expertise scam people!
This might prove to be an unbeatable challenge, will they go on?

6. Children of Time, Adrian Tchaickowvski a sci-fi story about humankind that is running away from their dying planet and they venture to a place in space that is very likely to allow human life, it had been transformed and prepared by ancestors but when they get there the planet is already occupied. We follow the journey and discovery of the new world.

7. The witcher novels: Blood of elves, the time of contempt and baptism of fire by Andrzej Sapkowski. Geralt of Rivia, the cunning assassin known as The Witcher, has been waiting for the birth of a prophesied child. This child has the power to change the world - for good, or for evil.
I am interested in the series, if I like this first few I'll try to get the next ones.
Though according to GoodReads
The best and most recommended reading order:
1) The Last Wish [short stories]
2) Sword of Destiny [short stories]
3) The Road with No Return [short story]
4) Blood of Elves
5) The Time of Contempt
6) Baptism of Fire
7) The Tower of the Swallow
8) Lady of the Lake
9) Season of Storms
So I am considering if I should try to get the short stories first and follow this order. Still considering it.
