Growing things and other stories
Author: Paul Tremblay

Original publication date: July 2019
Book description: This is a horror short story collection.
Thoughts:
The main feeling at the end of the book: Confused but pleased! For some of the stories, I was very unsure of what the hell had happened but most I really liked. I managed to get my hands on audio and it would have been better to have it in a physical or digital version, preferably I will buy a paperback copy and reread it again. I think its the type of stories you can go back to and either discover something better or maybe not end up as confused as the first time.

*NOTES FROM "THE BARN IN THE WILD"

*GROWING THINGS
The story describes two sisters, they live with their father and they cannot leave their house as outside there is something growing (plants) they grow out of control and thanks to that people are dying. Not sure what the ending meant.
*SWIM WANTS TO KNOW IF IT'S AS BAD AS SWIM THINKS
A giant monster attacks, a mother is desperate to get back to her daughter, she's not very sane but oh well that is the least of the worries when a giant monster is destroying town right?
No comments at all really in the next ones:
*SOMETHING ABOUT BIRDS
*SOMETHING ABOUT BIRDS
*THE GETAWAY
*WHERE WE ALL WILL BE
*THE TEACHER
*WHERE WE ALL WILL BE
*THE TEACHER
They were interesting to read but a bit confusing and in the end I was not 100% what the hell. I felt that they could be longer and that would help me more. Still, I do not hate them.
*NINETEEN SNAPSHOTS OF DENNISPORT
The idea that something is following the people and the only exit is to make yourself disappear, it's interesting really. But I never knew why, or how it jumps from one to the next. Does the sacrifice help others or its just a way to run away?
*NOTES FROM "THE BARN IN THE WILD"
This one features a man who was a famous explorer, but he had an accident in one of his last mountain exploration and he promises to stay put. But he just wants one last investigation about a missing person and he goes to explore the place where he was last, a barn lost in the middle of nowhere.
*UNTITLED
This is creepy, why would you allow it to happen? A random woman simply wants to appropriate herself of another woman's family?
*OUR TOWN'S MONSTER
Bullies getting the scare of their life, this was interesting and once more, not sure if the decision he took actually helps anyone else or not. Another question, how did they do it, the kids get their own personal monster?
*A HAUNTED HOUSE IS A WHEEL UPON WHICH SOME ARE BROKEN
*IT WON'T GO AWAY
*NOTES FROM THE DOG WALKERS
This was my favorite!!
The dogwalkers left short comments to the owner and they become more and more rambly
*FURTHER QUESTIONS FOR THE SOMNAMBULIST
Stacker manages to sneak into a hotel where a famous author is staying ad she wants to connect, to find out something that no one else knows.
*THE ICE TOWER
A group of people go revise a site when they get there it goes south, a storm, and people having accidents, but are the accidents?
*THE SOCIETY OF THE MONSTERHOOD
*HER RED RIGHT HAND
*IT'S AGAINST THE LAW TO FEED THE DUCKS
Many questions, a family goes on vacation and in the lake, the 5-year-old tries to feed the duck but his parents tell him is not allowed.
*THE THIRTEENTH TEMPLE
There is a town that is running itself to the ground while trying to build a temple, but it keeps falling down, and each time the whole town starts over and over to build it. The 13th time they actually manage it and then what they do with their children, not what I expected.
So yeah this was read as part of the Good Reads Choice Awards 2019 it was on of the runners up for the Horror category. It is interesting but I didn't love it.
Let's continue to read a few more before making up our minds!
This "review" is just awful but I have no idea what to say. I had a good time while reading them but again I was left simply very confused! An odd experience.
A little piece of advice that might help, read this in physical format, it'll probably help to make it more understandable.
Side note: This book was started and completed in April (the last days) but as part of my goal to write a review for every book I read this year, so I'll post reviews even a bit late is best, but I really do not think this one especially will be able to help anyone.
