Learning to Feel
Author: N.R. Walker
Pages: 264
First Published: October 2012
Genre: Contemporary
Book Description (Good Reads): Resigned to living a sexless, loveless life, Doctor Nathan Tierney knows something is missing. In a rash decision, he leaves his life-consuming job at Mass General Hospital, Boston, to be the small-town doctor in Belfast, Maine.
With the job comes a house, and with the house comes a handyman-painter. Trent Jamieson, a nomadic artist, and his dog Bentley, are offered free accommodation for the few weeks he fixes up the hospital-owned house.
Nathan is transfixed by this free-spirited, undeniably gorgeous man. Confused but amazed to feel any kind of attraction - much less to a man - Nathan convinces himself to put aside any preconceived ideas, and allows himself to just feel.
As their attraction for each other grows, one man learns to live, the other learns to love. But just who is teaching who?

As stated on my blog, this story has not been professionally edited.
My thoughts:
I should have read this fact first. I actually did feel it was too much like fanfiction. IT has a lot of sexual situations that the main characters found themselves in almost since the very first chapter.
The characters are not very developed at least they do not explore each other as a person initially; they simply are two good-looking people who do not even take time to get to know each other before they are flooding in lust for one another.
It really don't like this type of relationship.
I believe I am just not the proper audience for the story.
Insta-lust insta-love and the cliche of 'I have never loved before and the unmistakably - I was hurt before so bad that I can no longer allow myself to love and so I just use you for meaningless sex'. So because I personally I do not like the main troupes here my enjoyment of the story was well not present. It was an ok story if you like very little plot with a story full of sexual situations with a super Hollywood ending (they end up opening their hearts and want something else and now they are suddenly ready for a couple).
Star rating: 2.0
It was a bit disappointing because the cover looked so nice and it just called me to it but oh well.
