Thoughts:
I had read first the collection I hope this reaches her in time and really enjoyed it. So when I picked this one up I had high expectations to really like it at least.  I was hugely disappointed. Again the poems, most seemed too short and did not revibrate with me. They did not inspire or make me feel anything in particular. They almost felt forced. It seemed like things I had already seen.

The logical conclusion is that this particular collection was simply not for me. The style of extremely short poems is also something I find hard to get into therefore I need to pick something different and that's it. I might give it a go to see if maybe other of his collections click more with me, it might have been that simply this particular one wasn't for me.

Not to say that I feel the messages were bad, there were very good pieces of advice here, but they do not feel like poetry to me. For example, one goes like this:

Tell these girls
they do not need men
to feel like women

Or this other one that at least feels more like a piece of a poem than simple good wishes you can see in any quote about self-appreciation:

I hope you create something
with someone
who wants to live out
the rest of their life
standing next to you
under the sun.

You don't need to be fixed by anyone
you just want to be loved in a way
that chases the sadness out of your soul

In conclusion:
