The Copper Gauntlet

Author: Holly Black & Cassandra Clare
Pages: 264
Series: Magisterium #2
Genre: YA Fantasy
Date of publication: September 2015
Book Description (from Good Reads): Callum Hunt’s summer break isn’t like other kids’. His closest companion is a Chaos-ridden wolf, Havoc. His father suspects him of being secretly evil. And, of course, most kids aren’t heading back to the magical world of the Magisterium in the fall.
It’s not easy for Call . . . and it gets even harder after he checks out his basement and discovers that his dad might be trying to destroy both him and Havoc.
Call escapes to the Magisterium -- but things only intensify there. The Alkahest -- a copper gauntlet capable of separating certain magicians from their magic -- has been stolen. And in their search to discover the culprit, Call and his friends Aaron and Tamara awaken the attention of some very dangerous foes -- and get closer to an even more dangerous truth.

Thoughts:
We see great shows of friendship. It was surprising how Call's friends stand by him through thick and thin even gets a new friendship along the way he learns that he can trust (kind of) those he least expected.
This is full of adventure, secrets being revealed and the whole world of magic takes a whole new road thanks for the actions of the young apprentices.
It does not suffer from second book syndrome where the middle book is simply a long nothing making time for the next book. The world is developed a tiny little bit as Call and Aaron discover more of the world of magic as they are forced to mingle among the other mages.

Not exactly a spoiler:
But the way they explain their "mission" and the explanation they give. But will Call's friends continue to trust him? And what will happen now, when the real enemy is hard to pinpoint?

I gave this a 3.75 stars.
This is getting better, not exactly because of the whole adventure, the secrets being revealed but because of the family drama, the strain in the belief of friends, without mention the fact that this book could have been the ending and it would have been acceptable Now I wonder what is going to happen next.
