The mysterious affair at Styles

Author: Agatha Christie
Series: Hercule Poirot #1
Original publication date: October 1920
Book description: Who poisoned the wealthy Emily Inglethorpe, and how did the murderer penetrate and escape from her locked bedroom? Suspects abound in the quaint village of Styles St. Mary--from the heiress's fawning new husband to her two stepsons, her volatile housekeeper, and a pretty nurse who works in a hospital dispensary. Making his unforgettable debut, the brilliant Belgian detective Hercule Poirot is on the case.

Thoughts:

It is a very fast-paced mystery.
It starts very well with a cutout mystery, with a very strong theory people have. You as a reader think there is another thing going on because there are a few people here and their minds are already set on who the guilty party is regardless of lack of investigation.
The detective here is a funny little character, who is making questions no one thought to ask, about things that do not seem to matter and yet they are the right thing to ask at the right time. It is very well crafted.

This book was picked again as art of my challenge to read books from Agatha Christie. It is set as the very first Hercule Poirot book and this is the oldest novel published.
The other challenge was part of the Get Sh*t Done readathon, for the prompt read a classic you've been meaning to get to.
