Tunnel of Bones

Author: Victoria Schwab

Series: Cassidy Blake #2
Genre: Fantasy
Original publication date: September 2019
Book Description: She (plus her ghost best friend, Jacob, of course) are in Paris, where Cass's parents are filming their TV show about the world's most haunted cities. Sure, it's fun eating croissants and seeing the Eiffel Tower, but there's true ghostly danger lurking beneath Paris, in the creepy underground Catacombs.
When Cass accidentally awakens a frighteningly strong spirit, she must rely on her still-growing skills as a ghosthunter -- and turn to friends both old and new to help her unravel a mystery. But time is running out, and the spirit is only growing stronger.
And if Cass fails, the force she's unleashed could haunt the city forever.

Thoughts:

This story felt unnecessary and I was going to skip it. The first story was difficult for me to get through, it took a while to get into the story. This time at least I know Cassidy, Laura and Jacob so I see them and get into the story a bit faster.
I still feel that Cassidy takes unnecessary risks and a small thing escalates hugely. I mean specifically the poltergeist. How come the poltergeist has been trapped in a place and just as soon as she comes close to it, then it starts to cause mayhem to the city and even making jokes that could cause people to be hurt or die.
Cassidy continues to look to put herself in dangerous places trying to draw the spirit to her, but she takes unnecessary risks, places herself in a situation not only she could get hurt but she could die. She is faced with the self-appointed responsibility of saving ghosts and sending them on. She also faces issues with Jacob and that builds a bit of the drama its always adding.
The story is enjoyable enough, a good fast read for a spooky read that really is not very horror so a younger audience can enjoy it or if you really are not into scary stories.

This book was something I intended to read around October or at least the first few days of November, you know to keep in the seasonal mood. November the day of the dead (Dia de todos los Santos November 2), Halloween depending on what holiday you want to focus on.

This book was picked again in the spirit of Believathon. This is a Middle-Grade fantasy book. This could be the second book used for the prompt to read a seasonal book.
