Agatha Christie so far catch up
So I have read a few works of Agatha Christie before the chronological order was properly researched and decided to come back and start from the beginning. For most of them if I read it last year will be reread only the ones I had read this year will be marked off.
So far I have read:
1. The mysterious affair at Styles, find the blog here. It was read in January.
2. The secret adversary
3. Murder at the Links you can find the book review here.
4. The Lemesurier inheritance a short story.
For the Secret Adversary is the first novel where we find Tuppence and Tommy. They are a pair of friends who are struggling to find good jobs.
Tuppence is a very superficial girl who wants a good job but overall she wants a rich man to fall for her and become her husband in order to solve her economic issues and well Tommy also wishes to marry well in order to be economically solvent.
In their meeting, they come up with the idea of being hired help for miscellaneous jobs of any kind as long as they get paid. Due to that, they get hired to find investigate a group of people who are looking for a specific girl.
They are thrown into a world of spies, political issues, disappearances, possible kidnappings. They are not fully equipped for such situations.
It is very interesting even if the main characters were not my favorites, but the story is interesting. There were several plot twists that you saw coming for a while but the characters themselves had a bit more difficult to come to but they were not pictured as very stupid they had clever ways to come to their conclusions and working their way through the situations they were placed in.
The next one was a short story that was started and over with very easily. The Lemesurier inheritance follows Poirot as he is requested to help a family to get over an ancient curse.
As usual, the way he analyzes the present situation and what happened in the past few deaths is very interesting.
It is very short so I do not want to say much, but its engaging as usual and the big reveal really was not what I had expected but it made sense.
I really liked it.
