Thoughts:
This book was picked simply because its a book from Kindle and I have the goal to try to get through my huge TBR that have been sitting in my Kindle for a few years.

This is a historical fiction and its a genre I have not explored much. It was an interesting story yet it was maybe not for me. It was a pretty fast read.

There is given huge importance in religion as its fitting for the time I guess. The main character Breanna is annoying. She is a very independent woman in her way of thinking and yet has very square thinking. She wants to have more liberty to take care of her lands after her husband and wishes to not marry as she doe snot want a man to take charge and yet she is very stubborn and blind to what actions to take that are more beneficial for her situation.
She is stubborn and at times refuses to get the help she clearly needs. The romance was not my favorite, everything in that aspect was very predictable, but overall I did like the main couple so that's why it ended up feeling meh.
As usual, I  had issues with the way women and religion are viewed. We have several troupes that could potentially make the story great or feel too predictable in case you do not get enchanted by the characters.
There is very little plot overall, we see a few reveals, people have secrets that end up being too convenient.

There was nothing really wrong with this but it simply was not for me.

There is the damsel in danger and a strong mysterious man who comes in and tries to help her and he is righteous, loved by the people under them Everyone accepts him, there is a difference in their social standing as he is from a humble background but he wants to protect her even if she will never be "his".
The ending is too convenient, it as its sweet moments but really did not make the story overall stand out in any way.

It was an ok read, easy to get through but I am definitely not going to continue to read the rest of the series.

This book was used as part of the #AYearAThon Challenge of link a book.
After this book Salvation with a sword in the cover, we picked Magnus Chase a Sword of Summer that also has a sword of the cover.
