Thoughts:

First off I am reading the works of Agatha Christie in publication order, I had begun to buy her works in second-hand shops and in amazon when I ran into any of them at a cheap price (yeah I am a cheap person, or just not rich I have to try to downsize my expenses). I have owned this book for a little bit, I bought it last year and yet I had no idea it was a short story collection, pretty funny how that works.

This book contains several stories so I'll give just a rating to each one and then do an overall rating for the collection.

*The adventure of the western star.
A movie star seeks Poirot, she is scared. She received a few letters warning her that she will lose a precious diamond. Another person in England has rumored to have a sibling diamond and Lady Yard also seeks Poirot and Hastings tries to help instead.
Poirot makes the discovery and the deceit is uncovered, and Hastings is not in on the secret, he discovers his error once Poirot finishes testing the theory. The investigator's friend is not overly pleased to be played.
3.5 stars

*The tragedy at Mardson Manor
Again Poirot and Hasting are approached to investigate a claim for an insurance company. We have a man who just bought life insurance and then a few months later he dies of a natural cause but it seems almost too convenient. Poirot employs very clever ways to uncover the truth.
3.5 stars

*The adventure of the cheap flat
A couple who is friends with Hastings finds a very cheap flat in a very good location, it seems too good to be true.
Poirot manages to make discoveries that he simply had no way of knowing. We have spies, plot under plots, too unrealistic how he manages to jump to the conclusions to solve the mystery.
2.5 Stars.

*The mystery of hunter's lodge
A mysterious death and well-crafted plan. It amazes me how many things can be inferred with absolutely no information.
It is entertaining but a bit annoying, I am not sure why Hastings and Poirot continue to be friends.

*The million-dollar robbery
Poirot receives again a lovely girl whom Hastings sees and she's, as usual, the most beautiful girl he has ever seen. They get asked to investigate a huge heist. It is solved very quickly, not realistic at all it seems like Poirot has a supernatural ability to see the past, that would make more sense.
3.0 stars, its entertaining to read though.

*The adventure of the Egyptian tomb
Poirot goes to Cairo to investigate a series of deaths that people are attributing to the old tales of curses about breaking into Pharaoh's tombs and robbing them.
3 stars

*The jewel robbery at the Grand Metropolitan
While on a weekend vacation Poirot and Hasting are dragged into an investigation of stolen pearls.
3.0

*The kidnapped Prime Minister.
Once more I was surprised. Poirot really has a premonition ability. He had no way to solve the mystery, he uncovers it simply by analyzing no data XD He has no clues or anything to follow yet he makes the most convenient discoveries.
3.0 stars

*The disappearance of Davenheim
A man is gone without a trace, no body (cadaver) is found, no one has seen him. The police are on the lookout, but they are going in circles. Poirot enters in a bet and you know who the winner is going to be since it is started really.
It is ingenious the imagination people have to carry out well thought out plans but even more astonishing that Poirot manages to catch on to them.
3 stars

*The adventures of the Italian Nobleman
A murder takes place and it all points to a very obvious guilty party but wait, an impasse is reached, he is found not guilty. Now Poirot wishes to speak to the man after it is cleared by the police. The smallest of details and the old investigator catches it.
3 stars

*The case of the missing will
A young woman is looking for a will her uncle made. It was made as a challenge. They had a good relationship and she was to be the heiress but only if she proved her intelligence better than her uncles. The will that makes gives her everything must be found if she does, then she will inherit everything, she seeks Poirot for assistance to find it.
3 stars

Overall I gave this 3 stars.
I got a bit annoyed with Poirot but oh well.
