Saga Vol 1
Author: Brian K. Vaughan
Artist: Fiona Staples
Contains chapter 1 to 6
Original publication date: October 2012
Book description: When two soldiers from opposite sides of a never-ending galactic war fall in love, they risk everything to bring a fragile new life into a dangerous old universe.
Thoughts:
So it felt too sudden, it was a very fast read we are thrown in the middle of a war, two people are running for their lives and just go from one situation to another. The volumes here show a series of events that take place in a very small amount of time. I still do not feel too connected to the character but I really want to continue to see how they get to the present. It is being told, so all of this has already happened. It does take away a bit of the thrill as you kind of infer on the outcome, yet you do not the events and the how of the story so that's compelling to get you to read it.
The world where they are is not explained too much, but the art is stunning, the full-color pages, its wow.
Totally worth the read.
We have been introduced to several characters so far, in different sides and you do not know enough about them to care too much but my interest is peaked, I need to continue to see what happens to them.
I read this as part of the challenge for #AYearAthon read a very highly rated book according to GR. This is a very loved graphic novel/comic, not sure what the difference is. So it does make sense that it has a very high rating.
I am not as invested in the characters but I still enjoyed greatly my time with it.
So as I plan to read all of the series and if I skip all spoilers I will not be able to say anything.
Possible spoilers on the way (skip if you do not want to know anything about it).
IT felts very unrealistic, the very beginning giving birth and immediately start running and fighting for your life- I am not experienced but I would expect that to not be possible, shouldn't your insides be a bit messed up due to the baby she expelled from the body.
Then among the running, they get to find friends, well kind of, as it was a ghost who helped them. That was a pretty good one. A ghost that has abilities, I like that.
We have intelligent beasts, talking cats, I just love talking cats and the ability to tell truthfulness, a very peculiar skill.
I believe I will really be invested in the freelancer who is hired to capture/dispose of our main couple. He seems to have a questionable morality code, I just love the type. He captured my interest right away and the way he is trying to rescue a little girl just made me even more invested.
Everything felt too introductory, yet it leaves off in a very good spot, you simply want to continue reading.
What will happen?
The freelancers rescue the little girl?
Is Stak able to survive out of Sheer luck or some sort of ability?
The prince actually knows and is able to reach where they are? He seems to be intuitive. Also how long does the pregnancy last in the different species?
I have a lot of questions!
You know the worst part, is that its an ongoing series there are up to 54 volumes published, I have it all just need to read it but once I reach that volume 54, I will have to wait for who knows how long for it to be completed!
