December reading wrap up

Image
So it was a very interesting reading month but I stopped reading for the last week at the very least. I had other things going on and so it was impossible to read anymore.  Books read: 22 Plus a DNF book but we won't really talk about it. Total pages read 5897, not as many as I wanted but oh well. So as a continuation on what I have been trying to read from authors from different countries. So we have been trying to get more variety and we were somewhat ok in that. So this was my month! We are closing the year strongly!

So we have the last chapter of this fun readathon. Obviously, the book is going to be the first book of 2020. So now things have slowed down, a little weekend where many students will be going home, the perfect opportunity for a party at the dorms.  So we're having a nice day in playing games. Neville has plans and you actually do get a little bit in the way, so we go back to the castle. On the way, you see the message that the chamber of secrets has been opened and now we need: So we panic for a bit and we get the first prompt: Read a book from the topmost shelf, either on you own one or from the library. So yeah this is the second book in the story of Yuna, a teenager who while visiting her mother in Germany, gets transported to a fantastical land and expected to become the queen. Run up to the headmaster's office but it empty. You suddenly realize it's in Myrtle's bathroom. So According to Hermione, in order to get in her good si

Worst Books of 2019

Image
There are like in everything things you like and then things you do not. In books, I really try to enjoy myself I mean we read for pleasure and to get away from stressful or busy lifestyles so when a book, story or whatnot disappoints you. I had a very good reading year so I do not have that many books to mention here, let's get to it.  Starting from the order that I read it. Algedonic, R.H. Sin. This is a poetry book, it is not my style. I read other of the author's work, but I do not feel connected at all. The poems sound just generic and repetitive, so I will be giving up on the author.  Timecaster, Joe Kimball, this is a sci-fi duology about a very interesting premise but the execution leave a lot to be desired. I already spoke about this duology, so I will not spend too much time in it. Too much unnecessary sexual content and the characters are not good enough to pull me in and overlook the writing style that I do not like. All my friends are superheroes, Andr

The nixie's song

Author: Tony Diterlizzi and Holly Black Series: Beyond the Spidewick #1 Genre: Fantasy Original publication date: September 2007 Book description:  The Spiderwick Chronicles leave the old-fashioned charm of New England far behind and head south for some fiendish faerie fun in the hot Florida sun. Eleven-year-old Nicholas Vargas only thinks his life has been turned upside down after his developer father remarries and moves his new wife and daughter into the soon-to-be completed Mangrove Hollow. But an "expedition" to a nearby lake turns up a little nixie with a giant problem - the huge, lumbering, fire-breathing variety - and it's up to Nick; his stepsister, Laurie; and his big brother, Julian (plus a familiar face from the original Spiderwick Chronicles) to figure out the best way to stop a host of rampaging giants before all of Florida goes up in smoke. Thoughts: It is a nice quick read about Nicholas meeting his new step sister Laurie and finding out about a w

Most anticipated 2020 Releases

So, in this case, this is the first time I will actually go and look for the coming releases. By the way, I had not tried this before, I simply go with the flow, and get books at random and only hear it from youtube mainly. So let's see what we find: Come tumbling down, Seanan McGuire, the fifth in the Wayward series. This comes out in January. A heart so fierce and broken, Brigid Kemmerer. Itis the sequel of a curse so dark and lonely for beauty and the beast retelling.  This comes out in January 7. So I would need to buy the first one and then be able to jump to the next one. I have read only two other of her books and I really like them so I have big hopes for them.  One that I found and it seems like a good story about heists, something like Ocean's eleven or the perfect pan kind of vibe. It is Code name Heist, Sawyer Bennett about a man who gets caught stealing and then forced to go to prison for it and what happens after that.  A psychological thriller th

Shouting in the rain

Author: Lydia Mullaly Hunt Genre: Contemporary Original publication date: May 2019 Book description:  Delsie loves tracking the weather--lately, though, it seems the squalls are in her own life. She's always lived with her kindhearted Grammy, but now she's looking at their life with new eyes and wishing she could have a "regular family." Delsie observes other changes in the air, too--the most painful being a friend who's outgrown her. Luckily, she has neighbors with strong shoulders to support her, and Ronan, a new friend who is caring and courageous but also troubled by the losses he's endured. As Ronan and Delsie traipse around Cape Cod on their adventures, they both learn what it means to be angry versus sad, broken versus whole, and abandoned versus loved. And that, together, they can weather any storm. Thoughts: Initially, I really dislike Delsie. She is a young girl, going on that age leaving behind childhood and struggling on where to fit. She
