#AYearAthon December 2019 Wrap up

So this month is very special because we finished the last challenge of the year for this yearly readathon.
I really love it!
I have finally managed to participate in each one. Again because they're pretty laid back challenges you can even read only a single book and that is enough to be able to participate but oh well.

This week I got through several books mainly because again comics, manga, and short stories are a very quick read for me.

The first thing I picked up was

-Blue Exorcist vol 5 and 6.
This is the manga by Kazue Kato
I really like this series as it is going. I am sure I will start the anime as soon as I finish this manga.
We are getting secrets uncovered, friendships are being tested mainly because of the son of Satan is being discovered. As time goes by ad more people get involved in the secret, the worst people respond.
I can't really say much about this without spoiling, but the story is getting interesting because things keep happening one after the other.

Rating for this books was the same:

The other thing I also picked up the Brother's Grimm short stories collection. I picked a number at random from the draw game and I got to read 8 stories.
I thought the stories are ok mostly.
1. The frog king, or Iron Henry. In this one, I hate the princess, a spoiled and unlikeable girl. What surprised me the most was that they get the price without getting their attitude improved.

2.Cat and mouse in partnership. Since you see this partnership you know its a bad idea and once more, the wicked attitude comes up at the top.

3. Our Lady's Child. I don't get it, my main peeve here was that you get the lesson that being truthful even once is worth applauding. Odd in my point of view, but still it was an ok story.

4. The story of the youth who went forth to learn what fear was. This was hilarious, in many situations instead of being scared the young man was just odd. I enjoyed this story even if it was a meh ending.

5. The wold and the seven children. Here we get the typical children being very not smart but I enjoyed this story, this one was actually very similar to stories from my childhood. What am I saying, this story my grandma used to read it to me when I was a kid, even if the story had slipped from my mind, but after reading it I recognized everything from it.

6. Faithful John, this one had two conflicting things I so dislike the princesses in all the stories. Love at first sight for men and for women as long as the guy is a rich prince or king that magically makes them fall in love.
I have a strong dislike for that.
Other than that it was ok.

7. The good bargain. Again a very weird Main character known only as peasant who makes bad decisions and then complains about it. In the end he is the one who screwed some over by choice when no one was injust to him and yet he still won.

8. The wonderful magician. An awful human being. He is a musician and different animals come to him as they hear him play and he does not like them so instead of turning them down he tried to trap them and starve them. In the end, the animals can't take revenge from the musician because he finally gets a companion he likes enough to accept.

The last one picked for this readathon

Walking Dead vol 3 Safety behind bars.

So again a continuation that many people know a bit about. So I had only seen part of the show but at least it was still past the spot where I am in the graphic novel/comic.
The story starts to go a bit different than what I expected.
Lori is not my favorite character but her attitude does make sense in a way people are going crazy with everything they are facing.
I like the fact that people have a hard time with losing so many people close to them and it is not only glazed over. The story gets a very realistic touch when we see people struggling to get over losing their partners, children, partners etc, we see a nice array of emotions and reactions.
I like where this is going so far.
