The mysterious stranger
Author: Mak Twain
Genre: Classic
Original publication date: January 1916
Book description: In this anti-religious tale, Twain denies the existence of a benign Providence, a soul, an after-life, and even reality itself. As the Stranger in the story asserts, "nothing exists; all is a dream.
Thoughts:
This book was like other classics interesting and yet hard o get through.
I picked it from Scribd because well it was right there and I wanted something short to get by quickly. The bad thing it turned to be a book that was not compelling me to begin reading.
It starts interesting as a group of boys get to meet a stranger who starts to give the life lessons, who sees everything so very different from their own and also has very interesting ideas. It is a very good way to express the belief that there is really no divine power or holy hand who is in charge of our existence.
This book helped me get my semi-formal goal of reading a Classic even if it meant spending a lot more time than planned on this particular story but still, Mark Twain is not my favorite classics author but oh well. Maybe I just need to get used to his style.
