Call Down the Hawk
Author: Maggie Stiefvater
Series: Dreamer #1
Genre: Magical Realism
Original publication date: November 2019
Book description: The dreamers walk among us . . . and so do the dreamed. Those who dream cannot stop dreaming – they can only try to control it. Those who are dreamed cannot have their own lives – they will sleep forever if their dreamers die.
And then there are those who are drawn to the dreamers. To use them. To trap them. To kill them before their dreams destroy us all.
Ronan Lynch is a dreamer. He can pull both curiosities and catastrophes out of his dreams and into his compromised reality.
Jordan Hennessy is a thief. The closer she comes to the dream object she is after, the more inextricably she becomes tied to it.
Carmen Farooq-Lane is a hunter. Her brother was a dreamer . . . and a killer. She has seen what dreaming can do to a person. And she has seen the damage that dreamers can do. But that is nothing compared to the destruction that is about to be unleashed.
Thoughts:
This was only found in audiobook in Scribd as I was not able to find it my one trip to the book store and then I had some news that stopped me from getting more traditional books so I had to stop myself from ordering from Amazon. Ok stopping my ramble.
In the audio, it was not a bad story. It did have much less Adam-Ronan time, both are spending too much time away from each other. Not bad, really I do not want to face drama and the usual issues people face like breaking up, lack of communication that most stablished relationships face when the story needs drama.
This is again mainly the issues for dreamers, for the people who are chasing them and only a slight sidenote of romance therefore it did not need relationship drama thrown in. THANK YOU, Maggie Stiefvater.
We see more of Declan and Matthew a bit and explore the lives of other new characters, which it takes a while for me to connect with mainly because I was already too used to the idea of the Raven boys ad Blue to suddenly change.
But I really come to enjoy them Carmen is the one I wanted to dislike I really started to like her almost as soon as she was introduced, her mission and work were intriguing.
This is amazing!
I love this book, even if it did take me a while to get into because I really wanted to read it but at the same time my eagerness stopped myself.
I will definitely have to buy it sometime next year.
But I might up that to 5!
