Mary Poppins

Author: P.L. Travers
Series: Mary Poppins #1
Genre: Children, classic, fantasy
Original publication date: 1934
Book description: It all starts when Mary Poppins is blown by the east wind onto the doorstep of the Banks house. She becomes a most unusual nanny to Jane, Michael, and the twins. Who else but Mary Poppins can slide up banisters, pull an entire armchair out of an empty carpetbag, and make a dose of medicine taste like delicious lime-juice cordial? A day with Mary Poppins is a day of magic and make-believe come to life!

Thoughts:
It was very different than what I had expected.
Mary Poppins is a very harsh and very egoistical woman who does not treat children in a loving manner. She is harsh in a way and yet that makes them good and love her.
There is a lot of imagination here that is never explained, talking animals, elements having voices and thoughts that no one can hear but specific people, at certain ages yet there are exceptions in some aspects that you just quiet never understand.
The children never know exactly what's going on, sometimes they understand animals some times they do not, they see people who might be witches then, see incredible things happen... Oh well, it is very fantastical with little reason behind it.

It was still an enjoyable read but not as fast as I had imagined it to be. Maybe I just couldn't really get into because I am getting sick, so I was feeling uncomfortable with fever and a sore throat but still. I guess I'll see how I feel the next installment.

This book was picked up for the TR Draw game, for recent buy.
