Graphic novels/Manga 2019
This year I intended to get into manga, but then again it took me a while to get into. I did not make up my mind on what to start or where to begin, also I was trying to get into more graphic novels or comic because this year was supposed to be about branching out and getting to know what I liked and what doesn't work for me.
Interesting and blessings for me, I find that I can enjoy reading a graphic novel as much as a traditional book.
Because I love lists and need to feel accomplishment in something here I will leave a list of the ones I managed to get to this year.
Manga:
*Blue Exorcist by Kazue Kato.
This is the story of teenagers that are training to become exorcists, everyone has been touched in a way by the forces of evil that make this fight overly personal. e follow Rin and his twin brother as they are cruising through high school and death threatening situations.
I am going at a semi steady pace, especially considering that I started this series in the second half of the year. I am enjoying the friendship and adventures these people face.
I have already gotten through volumes 1 to 6
*Inuyasha, Rumiko Takahashi. This is a story about a high school student who is transported to the Feudal era and has to fight the big bad demon who is destroying peace among the country.
We have a group of people who come together and have to learn to lean on others in order to survive. It's full of battle, weird romance, humor and tons of adventures.
I am moving very slow throughout this one mainly because I can't the volumes. I have read volumes 1 to 4
*Black Butler Yana Toboso. It tells the story of Ciel a young man who is looking for revenge after a huge tragedy. I only read a single volume. I really remember liking this anime when I started to watch it a few years ago.
* Ranma 1/2, Rumiko Takahashi.
A story of a young man who falls into a cursed water pond and suffers a transformation each time cold water is dumped on him. It is hilarious and full of nonsense, maybe that is again a reason why I am moving very slowly through it.
I did realize that stories with illogical actions one after the other. I am surprised by the number of actions that can have a martial arts version of it, like cooking, sports like figure skating and gymnastics.
Sakura Cardcaptor, Clamp volume 1.
I really like this anime and that's why I want to continue it.
A girl finds an old book full of magic cards that are released from their magical seal.
Queen's knight, Kim Kang Won. Again I have only read a single volume so maybe we know the issue here. Starting is not the issue just getting through to the end.
I really started this maybe 12 years ago and I have very vague ideas of it, we'll see how I feel about it this time around.
Yuna is the youngest of 4 children and while her mother goes to Germany to continue her education, she feels left behind and is sent to visit her mother and there her life gives a huge change. She gets transported to a different world where she is to be the queen.
As for graphic novels:
*Giant Days, John Allison. It is the story of a group of girls who are starting university. They all have different backgrounds, personalities and yet they grow closer.
It is a nice story, character-based.
*Herding cats, Sarah Anderson.
A very comical collection of short mini-stories showing everyday life situations with a humoristic touch.
Descendants 2 A field trip, Jan Vaugh.
It is a short story about Mel and her friends as they are in the Isle of the lost.
