Book recommended by words of the day week 3

So Once more the only rule here is to not repeat books that were already mentioned in the previous weeks for recs.

Let's begin!

JUNE 15 BELLWETHER
Definition: one that takes the lead or initiative: leader; also: an indicator of trends.
This word makes me think of Kelsier, he becomes the leader of the rebellion trying to overthrow the Lord Ruler. He tries to raise an army and get people to actually try to revolt, people after hundreds of years of oppression no longer even hope of a change. He manages to become the leader the rebellion had not to head before and he provides the hope that allows people to actually believe in their opportunity. Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson the first in the trilogy.

JUNE 16 NULL
Definition: 1: having no legal or binding force: invalid
2: amounting to nothing: nil
3: having no value: insignificant
4 a: having no elements
b: having zero as a limit
5: of, being, or relating to zero

The first one to come to mind id Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff, here we follow Kady, Ezra, and a  few other survivors from an illegal mine in a section far from Earth. The few people are a null fore compared to a very important corporation with enough money to destroy a whole small planet and destroy a whole colony.

JUNE 17 HARANGUE
1: a speech addressed to a public assembly
2: a ranting speech or writing
3: lecture
Sister outsiders by Audre Lorde a collection of speeches and letters about racial and empowerment for women among minority but also it gives a good message about not hate men either.

JUNE 18 CONFLATE
Definition: 1 a: to bring together: fuse
b: confuse
2: to combine (things, such as two readings of a text) into a composite whole
This makes me think about Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo this tells the story of a group of people who come together with a mission that will give them enough money to get out of huge economic problems. They have the task of rescuing a man from a fortress, they need to trust each other and make the best of their abilities to accomplish an impossible task.

JUNE 19 STALWART
Definition: marked by outstanding strength and vigor of body, mind, or spirit
The first person to come to mind if Bloody nine fingers a northern who is trying to stop a barbarian king from taking over all over the free world. This is a grimdark story that is full of morally gray characters that you can't help but stand behind.

JUNE 20 ENVISAGE
Definition: 1: to view or regard in a certain way
2: to have a mental picture of especially in advance of realization
One of the first things that come to mind is to make reference to judging people in stereotypical or making assumptions based on race, religion, etc. So one of my most recent books is something that happened in town by Marianne Celano. This describes how two young children find out about a cop shooting a black man and how the parents answer and explain how or why this could happen but also make certain they tell them it is not right to make a judgement based on race, skin color.

JUNE 21 MASTERFUL
Definition: 1 a: inclined and usually competent to act as master
b: suggestive of a domineering nature
2: having or reflecting the power and skill of a master
Scythe by Neal Shusterman A world with no hunger, no disease, no war, no misery. Humanity has conquered all those things and has even conquered death. Now scythes are the only ones who can end life—and they are commanded to do so, in order to keep the size of the population under control.
Citra and Rowan are chosen to apprentice to a scythe—a role that neither wants. These teens must master the “art” of taking life, knowing that the consequence of failure could mean losing their own.
