She sets out with her friends to rescue the Queen of Ev and her ten children, who have been imprisoned by the cruel Nome King. But even Ozma, the wise Ruler of Oz, is no match for the clever king, and it's up to Dorothy to save everyone from terrible danger. But will the Nome King's enchantments be too much even for the plucky little girl from Kansas?
Thoughts:
Dorothy is sent again to a fairy world and this time she has a different set of friends.
It continues to be an absurdist tale yet as the series continues it is more acceptable and you are able to suspend your belief and enjoy the story more.
The Nome King is a new "enemy", he is a funny evil character he simply is used to getting away with everything he wants and his wishes will be very unfortunate for our main characters. Nome king wishes them to become trinkets and have them display in his Castle.
Dorothy is not too bright and too naive.
It is a very short novella and a fast read. It is a very good story to read out loud to children.
I do not have anything against this story just the slight personal preference that absurd world is not my favorite, it annoys me a bit the over the top nature these stories have yet I do say I would have loved to have this stories told to me as a child and I will definitely gift this series to my nieces so they can enjoy them.
