The F.R.I.E.N.D.S book tag
There aren’t really any rules, but for each character, there is a question relating to a book.
Let's start.
A book based on a game or competition:
Ready player one by Ernest Clintwood.
IN THE YEAR 2044, the reality is an ugly place. The only time teenage Wade Watts really feels alive is when he's jacked into the virtual utopia known as the OASIS. Wade's devoted his life to studying the puzzles hidden within this world's digital confines, puzzles that are based on their creator's obsession with the pop culture of decades past and that promise massive power and fortune to whoever can unlock them. But when Wade stumbles upon the first clue, he finds himself beset by players willing to kill to take this ultimate prize. The race is on, and if Wade's going to survive, he'll have to win—and confront the real world he's always been so desperate to escape.
Not at all, I always plan to organize my book by genre, but author, by color.... They are not organized in any way at the moment and even having free time is not making me start putting them in any particular order.
RACHEL
A book you read for the hype:
Daughter of smoke and bone, Laini Taylor.
It is a fantasy story about Kaoru who has lived a double life among Chimeras and humans. She is faced with the eternal war between angels and Chimeras when her family is attacked and possibly killed by their enemies and she needs to find a way to go to their realm and help them.
I love to cover buy, also if I heard many people talk about it I'll buy it. But most of the time if it looks good I'll grab it without even reading the synopsis XD
ROSS
A science fiction book:
I sound like a broken record but my favorite still is The Martian by Andy Weir. This is the story of astronaut Mark W. who is part of a mission to explore Mars, due to a storm the exploration is cut short and the team is forced to evacuate but during the boarding of the shuttle Mark is blown away by the wind and his team leaves Mars believing him dead. He becomes the first human abandoned on another planet and he must struggle to survive until someone from Earth can come up with a way to rescue him.
The most recent was a game of thrones by George RR Martin, this book is hard to get through as its intimidating due to the length. A very popular Fantasy story.
CHANDLER
A book that made you laugh out loud:
The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy by Douglas Adams, this is an absurd story that you can't read it without laughing. It tells the story of a man who is caught in an alien ship after the planet Earth is destroyed and he is explained a bit more of the universe and what its found in it. CHANDLER
A book that made you laugh out loud:
That time at Space Mountain- Are there any books you’re embarrassed to admit you’ve read?
Not really. I am a strong believer that people should be reading whatever they fancy and others should not judge. So there is really no books I feel ashamed of reading or enjoying.
JOEY
I don't really read horror all that often so I have very little to compare but I have recently read a short story collection Growing things and other stories by Paul Trambley. Some were a bit scarier than others but still, it was scary.
V is for Encyclopedia- As an adult, have you read any books with words you had to look up to understand?
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas a classic French story but with a language level that gives me a bit of trouble, I am sure that even if I had tried to read it in Spanish if it's translated to old Spanish I would have the same issues.
This tells us the story of Dantes a young man who is taken to prison due to actions of cowards that have pure envy of the young man. This is the story of his vengeance.
PHOEBE
The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater we see a group of young men trying to find the sleeping king that disappeared hundreds of years previous. We also see people who have supernatural powers, others present psychic abilities and of course, we also have ghosts and monsters.
The book retailer I will not be supporting is Book Outlet that recently has shown a very clear racist attitude, this was clearly seen in the recent movement; Black Lives Matter.
I am not going to support an organization that refuses to accept their racism and lie about it to the public.
JANICE
Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson, this was the first book by Sanderson and it was a very good surprise once you get to the big reveal. This is the story of two sisters, one was raised in a way to prepare for her duty, as the oldest daughter she was to marry the God-King of their enemies in order to keep a peace treaty the other is a very unnecessary child, she has no big responsibilities and therefore was raised more freely. But suddenly the king changes his mind and he sends the younger daughter instead of the one that was intended. That forces both sisters to change their attitude on life and both are forced to grow up all of the sudden.
EMILY
For this, I am not straying from the obvious answer, so any of the works by Jane Austen. It's the best example of British literature I enjoy.
GUNTHER
Eliezer Wiesel's Night, a memoir that describes his experiences during the Holocaust and his imprisonment in several concentration camps. This is a very powerful story that you simply can't get out of your head for a long time after you get through it.
Again not trying from very well known books so might not be necessary to talk much about them.
You probably already know the basis for all, Carry on is the story of Simon a chosen one who is in this school for magic and he is prophetized to save the magical world from this huge evil being.
The Dream thieves part of the Raven Cycle, is a magical realism story we follow a group of teenagers who are searching for a king who has been asleep for hundreds of years so he can grant them a wish.
Adam Silvera has several books and most if not all feature characters who identify in the LGBT+ spectrum. This one follows the story of two boys who meet the day they both will die.
EDDIE
You by Caroline Kepnes here we follow Joe who works in a bookstore, he meets one day a young woman who is a client there and he becomes obsessed with her and stalks her. He will go to great lengths to win her over.
MIKE
The romance in the Percy Jackson series, that definitely took a while to fully develop. Actually, most of his series do that, we see it the Kane Chronicles, Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, oh wow it took me this long to notice.
RICHARD
So lets go with accomplished, something I felt really good of finishing was The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, it is a big intimidating book, completing it several times does give me a sensation of accomplishment.
