The bad beginning
Author: Lemony Snicket
I'm sorry to say that the book you are holding in your hands is extremely unpleasant. It tells an unhappy tale about three very unlucky children. Even though they are charming and clever, the Baudelaire siblings lead lives filled with misery and woe. From the very first page of this book when the children are at the beach and receive terrible news, continuing on through the entire story, disaster lurks at their heels. One might say they are magnets for misfortune.
In this short book alone, the three youngsters encounter a greedy and repulsive villain, itchy clothing, a disastrous fire, a plot to steal their fortune, and cold porridge for breakfast.
It is my sad duty to write down these unpleasant tales, but there is nothing stopping you from putting this book down at once and reading something happy if you prefer that sort of thing.
With all due respect,
Lemony Snicket
Series: A series of unfortunate events #1

Thoughts:
This is the beginning of another series I had started from childhood and not finished. So this time we're going to get to the end!
We have the narrator snippy and giving you not very nudges to stop reading in several sections of the book, it gives it a funny story.
This follows a trio of sibling Violet, Klaus, and Sunny. It starts with their parents' untimely death and the very lousy man who is in charge of carrying out their will for their care.
This will dictates that a family member should be the one to raise the children and take care of the fortune until the oldest, Violet came of age. The nearest family member was Count Olaf, an awful man. Like in many children's books, the adults here are not the best at listening to the orphan children.
The children are very well behaved, try to follow their instructions even if they do not enjoy it, and very close among each other always taking care of none another.
Count Olaf is a bad parent figure, only interested in the children's money, he makes a plan to get his hands on the fortune and when the orphans try to get help the good Judge, their neighbor and the lawyer who is in charge of them, both refuse to see it. After all the children are just getting used to the new station they found themselves in and well they sure are over-exaggerating their problems.
The only time the adults believe count Olaf is evil well, because he says it himself, like a good comic villain he exposes his plan once he thinks he won!
This is the beginning of the story for their children, it is a fast read that is sure. I highly recommend it. You can find it in Scribd in Audio and it goes pretty fast, the narrator gives it a very checky tone.
Though this time it felt extremely short, I had forgotten how small each book was.
