Books recommended by words of the day Week 2

So this is the second part of the recommendations that started earlier this month. I had intended to do a single post but then it would be very bothersome for people to scroll down and see each one, so trying to make it more convenient to see we will do it a week at a time.

JUNE 8 GEST
Definition: 1: a tale of adventures; especially: a romance in verse
2: adventure, exploit

This makes me think of a book I have yet to read but really want to:
*Falling into the dragon's mouth by Holly Thompson
This is the story of  Jason Parker, he is a sixth-grader who moves to Japan ad is simply trying to fit in. It is a story told in verse and as its for children, I think it would be a very quick yet emotional read.

JUNE 9 LISSONE
Definition: 1 a: easily flexed
b: characterized by easy flexibility and grace: lithe
2: nimble

So in this case we're going with a lissone morality, so a character who can bend the morals to their benefits. There has been a lot of books with morally gray characters lately.

Vicious by V.E. Schwab This follows two main characters Eli and Victor, when they are in college they are trying to find a way to grant Superpowers. A decade later, Victor is getting out of prison with the sole purpose of revenge and Eli is trying to exterminate everyone with powers. As the story progresses and you get to know them you realize how twisted their mentality is, they really will do anything they need and they feel justified in doing so.

JUNE 10 TROUBADOR
Definition: 1: one of a class of lyric poets and poet-musicians often of knightly rank who flourished from the 11th to the end of the 13th century chiefly in the south of France and the north of Italy and whose major theme was courtly love
2: a singer especially of folk songs

For this, I will recommend a classic Fantasy story
Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay a fantasy story where our main characters travel portraying musicians and they do love singing, so it fits perfectly. This takes place in another world, where the peninsula was taken over by Tyrants and these fellows must rescue the land from the oppressors.

And the other character also very linked to singing is Kvothe from The name of the kind by Patrick Rufus. This follows the story of Kvothe he is telling his story letting us know in on the secret of his success and the huge reputation he acquired.

JUNE 11 VILIPEND
Definition: 1: to hold or treat as of little worth or account: contemn
2: to express a low opinion of: disparage

I personally have a very low opinion on my pick on Poetry, especially in the recent poetry style such as:

This touches themes that are worth noting but the work included doe snot call for me or makes me feel anything in particular. I have read several works by the author and it simply is not for me.
This is also repeated in the popular poetry writer R.H. Sin. I read some of his books, initially, I enjoyed them ok but then as I read more I found out that I care less and less about them, it seems to be the same thing and I can't appreciate them. So modern poetry is something I really go into with very low expectations.

JUNE12 FICTITIOUS
Defenition: 1: of, relating to, or characteristic of fiction: imaginary
2 a: conventionally or hypothetically assumed or accepted
b: of a name: false, assumed
3: not genuinely felt

For this I will pick on of my all-time favorite books The Partner by John Grisham. Here a lawyer uses a fictitious name and lifestyle at the initial of the story as he is hiding from the people from his past. He was a middle-age lawyer with a very bad marriage who decided to steal millions and then disappear.

JUNE 13 WHODUNIT
Definition: a detective story or mystery story

For this I recommend Agatha Christie as she has several series focusing on detectives solving crime. She has become a classic mystery/thrillers for crime-related stories following the detective on the story.

JUNE 14 DIVAGATE
Definition: to wander or stray from a course or subject: diverge, digress

For this I will pick a satyr classic, Northanger Abbey by Jane Austin a tells the story of Catherine Morland and her dangerously sweet nature, innocence, and sometime self-delusion. Though Austen's fallible heroine is repeatedly drawn into scrapes while vacationing at Bath and during her subsequent visit to Northanger Abbey, Catherine eventually triumphs, blossoming into a discerning woman who learns truths about love, life, and the heady power of literature. The satirical novel pokes fun at the gothic novel while earnestly emphasizing caution to the female sex.
This is told by a narrator who is telling the story in their own way and even has fun by going off-topic and talking to the audience on off-topic things simply because they feel like it. It is a hilarious story.
